Injured Mihalik to Miss Lightning Camp

Damian Crisdotero reports on his blog that prospect defenseman Vladimir Mihalik has been pulled from the Lightning camp roster due to a pulled groin muscle. He will be replaced on the roster by overage prospect David Schneider.

Update:
Erik Erlendsson also indicates on his blog that part of the Lightning's decision to remove Mihalik from Tampa camp was due to Mihalik having no realistic chance of making the team at this point in his career. Ouch.

Did anyone really think

Did anyone really think Mihalik was NHL-ready at this point anyway? It's the 6th/7th spots up for grabs and they probably don't want to have him getting little ice time or serving popcorn. He needs the icetime and has a better chance at getting more of it in Norfolk. Probably better for his development than sitting in a press box.
