CHL, BCHL Game Night: 9/22

Seattle Thunderbirds 2 @ Kamloops Blazers 3 (OT)
G Riku Helenius, SEA: OTL, 24 saves on 27 shots

Game Notes: Helenius’s first regular season game in North America was looking strong as he had a shutout through the first half of the game, but the T-Birds couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead and fell in overtime, 3-2 in Kamloops. Helenius is wearing No. 30 for Seattle.

Lethbridge Hurricanes 2 @ Medicine Hat Tigers 4
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM

Game Notes: With his secondary assist, Fadden helped Lethbridge to an early 2-1 lead but the Hurricanes couldn’t hang on and dropped the second of a home-and-home series with the Tigers. The Hurricanes won on Friday. Fadden has a goal and an assist in two games this year.

Tri-City Americans 6 @ Kelowna Rockets 5 (OT)
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did not play

Game Notes: WHL overager Kristofer Westblom got the start for Kelowna, who has one of the best goaltending duos in the league with Lightning prospect Torrie Jung, but the goaltending failed them as Tri-City scored 6 goals on 32 shots to earn a 6-5 come-from-behind win in overtime. Westblom had 26 saves, but gave up 3 goals between the 15 and 18 minute marks of the third period to enable the Americans to force overtime. They scored on their first shot in overtime, on the power play.

Note: For the second straight night, Prince George and Everett lost without Lightning prospects Dana Tyrell (PG) and Dane Crowley (EVT), who are in Norfolk's camp. Tyrell is an assistant captain for the Cougars.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs 4 @ Victoria Grizzlies 5
W Justin Courtnall, VIC: 0-0-0, 0 PIM

Game Notes: Justin Courtnall did not hit the scoresheet for the Grizzlies in their overtime loss at Powell River. Courtnall has one goal and two assists in five games so far this season for the 1-1-1-2 Grizzlies.
