CSTV had Michigan's home

Submitted by timothy on November 2, 2007 - 10:09.

CSTV had Michigan's home opener against Boston U. on last weekend. I got a chance to watch some it. Cool thing is that CSTV seems to replay these games frequently, so it's not too hard to find a time to watch or record.

In Michigan's first home game, Quick was on the 2nd team PK and was getting a regular shift at even strength -- even some looks on the top pairing. Quick is one of 6 freshman defenseman on the Wolverine roster to go along with 4 freshman forwards. Young team, but still a talented one.

Quick has one play where he shot a bullet of a tape-to-pass from just above his circles just onsides to a streaking Michigan forward who should have gotten in alone on the BU goalie, but lost the puck setting up his move. That pass from Quick was similar to what we've seen from Paul Ranger.

The Boston U forecheck was brutal, wave after wave of quick and physical attacks -- something out of Hitchcock's thriller The Birds. It was a good introduction for Quick to NCAA hockey. He didn't make any glaring mistakes with the puck that I saw, but you could tell he didn't have much time or space to skate the puck out of the zone. Michigan is going to a great place for him developmentally.
