Tyrell WHL Player of the Week

(WHL.ca) The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Dana Tyrell of the Prince George Cougars.

Tyrell picked up seven points in three games during the week of October 29th through to November 4th. He scored six goals, one assist and was plus one, helping the Cougars to a 3-0 record in that span.

On Monday, October 29th, the WHL Western Conference leading Vancouver Giants rolled into the CN Centre to face the Cougars. Tyrell picked up 2 power play goals to secure the Cougars 3-0 victory over the Giants. He also was named the games 2nd Star.

On Friday, November 2nd, the Cougars travelled into the Okanagan area to face division rival the Kamloops Blazers. Tyrell scored the hat trick netting three goals and one assist in the convincing 8-3 win over the Blazers. He also was named the games 1st Star.

On Sunday, November 4th, back at the CN Centre in Prince George, the Cougars hosted the Red Deer Rebels. Tyrell potted one goal and was named the games 1st Star in the Cougars 3-2 overtime victory over the Rebels.

With the Prince George Cougars three victories this past week, they bring their season record back to .500 and have won seven of their last 10 games.

Tyrell, the 18 year old Airdrie, Alberta product is in his third season in the Western Hockey League and with the Prince George Cougars. At the 2007 NHL Entry Draft Tyrell was selected in the 2nd round - 47th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
