AHL Game Day 11/18: Admirals at Devils
Darche/MacDonald/Wanvig is en fuego.
Jonathan Boutin stopped 27 of 28 shots for the win to improve his record to 3-2-2 on the season. Boutin is currently 6th in the AHL in save percentage.
Norfolk outshot Lowell 31-28 in the game and, with the win, improved their record in one goal games this season to 3-6-0.
NOR Darche, (3) (Wanvig), 16:43
LOW Tallackson, (4) (Vrana, Clarke), 2:43 (PP)
NOR Wanvig, (10) (Darche, MacDonald), 17:05
How hot is the Admirals' first line. Since being assembled at the start of this road trip, here are their statistics:
Mathieu Darche: 4 GP, 3-7-10
Kyle Wanvig: 4 GP, 6-3-9
Craig MacDonald: 4 GP, 1-5-6
As of this posting, Kyle Wanvig is tied for third in the AHL in scoring with 22 points. He is also tied for second in the AHL in goals with 10.
Now, just imagine how good they'd be if the Admirals had anything resembling a second line right now. I'm looking to you, Blair Jones.
Norfolk is now 5-10-2. That's the bad news. Here's the good news: as of this writing they're 1 point out of a playoff spot, although their competition all have games in hand on the Admirals.
Now, with all their offensive weapons loaded and in the groove, the Admirals return home for a three game stand at the scope against Philly and then back-to-back games against Springfield. Now is when the Admirals need to make their move.
