CHL, BCHL Game Night: 12/14

Friday night's highlights:

  • Jung continues to play well for Kelowna
  • Fadden and Lethbridge make their Top-10 debut
  • Tyrell and Prince George struggling

Lewiston MAINEiacs 3 @ Rimouski Oceanic 1
D Michael Ward, LEW: 0-0-0, E, 2 PIM, 2 shots on goal

Lewiston takes the second of a home-and-home with Rimouski to finish 1-1 against L’Oceanic.

Kootenay Ice 4 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 3
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 0-1-1, -1, 0 PIM

Fadden’s assist came on a third period power play. The Hurricanes made their first appearance on the CHL Top-10 list at No.9 this week.

Seattle Thunderbirds 0 @ Spokane Chiefs 1
G Riku Helenius, SEA: Did Not Dress. (WJC)

Kamploops Blazers 7 @ Prince George Cougars 2
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-0-0, -3, 0 PIM

The Cougars saw a 2-1 lead turn into a blowout loss. The club has lost 6 straight and 15 of their last 17 and are 11 points out of 8th place in the Western Conference. You have to wonder if Tyrell and Wishart become trade bait down the stretch to help the Cougars rebuild.

Everett Silvertips 1 @ Tri-City Americans 3
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM

Former Traverse City Lightning and Tri-City LW Colton Yellow Horn ran his point streak to 16 games with an empty-netter with 33 seconds left -- the longest streak in the WHL this year.

Kelowna Rockets 3 @ Prince Albert Raiders 2
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Win, Stopped 19 of 21 shots.

Jung is 2-0-2 in his last 4 starts.

Victoria Grizzlies 5 @ Alberni Valley Bulldogs 4
W Justin Courtnall, VIC: 1-0-1, 0 PIM

Courtnall’s goal gave Victoria a brief 2-1 lead in the final minute of the first period.
