  • Mihalik, Vladimir
  • Smolenak, Radek

Marc Denis definitely not Norfolk's savior.

NOR-3
WBS-6

Marc Denis allowed 6 goals on 26 shots for the loss in his Norfolk debut. He did manage to stop a Connor James penalty shot in the second period.

First Period
WBS Brent, (6) (McLean, Goligoski), 4:38
WBS Minard, (12) (Goligoski, Brent), 17:06

Second Period
WBS Smith, (10) (Goligoski, James), 4:21
NOR Milley, (9) (Kearns), 9:41
WBS James, (7) (Ardelan), 16:34

Third Period
NOR Klinkhammer, (4) (Smolenak, Mihalik), 3:31
NOR Jancevski, (3) (Smolenak), 4:35 (PP)
WBS Minard, (13) (McLean, Brent), 8:45 (PP)
WBS Filewich, (6) (Goligoski), 16:42

Silver linings: 1.) Vladimir Mihalik returns to the lineup from injury. 2.) We have another Radek Smolenak sighting.

Box score from TheAHL.com.

Silver Lining #3

Submitted by Randy on January 1, 2008 - 01:39.

Unlike some other nights, the team did not quit and battled through to the end. I'd love to see some wins, but right now I'll settle for consistent effort for 3 periods and no quit.

Not trying to be a Denis defender, but listening to the broadcast, of the 6, maybe 2 were Denis' fault. Poor defensive play left him hanging out to dry on the other 4. For a team that in the pre-season was thought to have defense as one of its strong suits, it hasn't been the case so far this year. Ramo through his stellar play prevented many of those mistakes from being goals, and even he did not have a winning record during his brief play here.

We are now statistically and standings wise the worst team in the entire AHL.

If he's going to make it

If he's going to make it back to the league, Denis needs to make sure he's giving up 0 softies.

I think if you're a little

Submitted by pete on January 1, 2008 - 12:38.

I think if you're a little more patient his chance will come.

Stirling had some pretty choice things to say about Smolenak and now it looks like Radek is making himself a regular in the lineup. I don't think coach has nearly as hard of feelings about Lascek so I suspect Stan will get his chance to try to stick, and once he sticks I think eventually his playmaking talents will start to emerge.
