The bad news is, the Lightning are still 4 games under .500. The good news is they're just 7 points back of division leading Carolina with 3 games in hand and Dan Boyle likely to come back into the lineup at any time. Between that and the fact no one else in the Southeast Division seems to have their stuff together and the Lightning suddenly look like a team with a prayer of making the playoffs.

It's a challenge, but it's do-able.

Could They Be Buyers Now?

Recently, many here, including me, have felt there would be a trading deadline sale of Bolts assets to stock up for the future.

Now, they are on a 4 game winning streak and the rest of the Southeast Division seems to be heading in a southerly direction. At the beginning of the season when the self-imposed cap was announced, it was indicated that should the Bolts be in the hunt for the playoffs, ownership would open its checkbook to acquire some of the pieces thought to be missing to help them into the playoffs.

Or would the current ownership, now they are looking to sell, not make any moves so as to not jeopardize the sale, the same rationale for not selling just turned 180 degrees.

February 26 will soon be upon us. A most interesting situation.
