Third Period
HER Fehr, (1) (Boumedienne, Lepisto), 9:05 (PP)

Ordinarily, a shootout win wouldn't be such a big deal, but considering Hershey has tortured Norfolk most of this season in a way reminiscent of how Providence used to torment Springfield, a win is sweet indeed.

AHL all-star Justin Keller was named first star with an assist and the sealing goal in the shootout. Marc Denis received third star of the game honors.

Don't look now, but Radek Smolenak has 1 goal and 4 points in his last 3 games.

The Admirals outshot Hershey 39-27 in the game. Now if they can just get Blair Jones back on track.

Smolenak

I know up until this time Smolenak has not done anything to distinguish himself to those on this board. The chief rap was he would not get his nose dirty in the corners or along the boards.

But as of late, his nose has been dirty quite a lot. He has turned into somewhat of an agitator. He even last weekend tried to fight Kip Brennan a much larger and well known enforcer. Brennan supposedly dabbles in UFC fighting in his off time. So when Smolenak stepped up and challenged him it had a high ugliness potential, but Brennan didn't fight him. Not the smartest move by Smolenak, but not the act of a soft European either.

And he has started putting up points as well. If he keeps this up, he may have found his niche here. On the other hand, I think Lascek and Kvapil are lost causes. If Smolenak continues to play this way, he should be kept around.

Lascek

Personally I would like to see lascek play more.... I like how he has played in Norfolk the few times he hasn't been scratched. He would be a decent ahler if he had anything resembling speed. Lascek seems to have a knack for getting behind the Defense but he so slow they catch up to him before he can get to the net.
