N.A. Juniors Game Night: 1/23

CHL Top Prospects Game
Team White 8 Team Red 4

Possible Lightning target Zach Boychuck had a goal and two assists – one of which came on a gorgeous play where he turned a defenseman inside-out on a rush and cut to the net for a shot which was eventually knocked in by a teammate. Likely top pick Steven Stamkos had a Gordie Howe hattrick (1+1). Game recap.

Lighting prospect results from Wednesday:

WHL
Seattle Thunderbirds 4 @ Kamloops Blazers 2
G Riku Helenius, SEA: Win, Stopped 24 of 26 shots, *First Star*

Portland Winter Hawks 2 @ Kelowna Rockets 9
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Win, Stopped 24 of 26 shots.

Jung returned to action after missing a few starts due to a minor back injury.

Brandon Wheat Kings 3 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 4
[i]C Mitch Fadden, LET: 1-0-1, -1, 2 PIM (high sticking)

Lethbridge was able to pull off the win without Boychuck.

Everett Silvertips 6 @ Prince George Cougars 0
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 0-1-1, +3, 0 PIM
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-0-0, -3, 0 PIM

Everett, who has won 5 in a row and 9 of 11, outshot the overmatched Cougars 45-18. Gregg Drinnan of the Kamloops Daily News reports Prince George is 5-24-1-1 since November 4. Here’s hoping PG can surround Tyrell with some quality talent next season, should Tyrell return.
