ECHL Game Night 1/31: Columbia @ Mississippi

Ryan Munce stopped 27 shots and Marek Kvapil scored the game winner on a breakaway as the Sea Wolves defeated the Columbia Inferno 2-1 Thursday night. Munce was named the game's First Star while Kvapil earned Third Star honors. It was Munce's 12th win on the season, and it was Kvapil's third goal and fifth point in his first two games back in Mississippi after spending a couple of weeks in Norfolk. Head coach Steffon Walby seems to have found a lethal line combination in Kvapil, rookie and All-Star Ryan Menai, and Jason Tejchma.

"I don't think it's just me," Kvapil said in a quote from the Sun Herald. "Everyone is playing well. Guys are putting a lot of effort into every shift. We're working hard. I was pretty excited to come back here because I wasn't really playing much up there. I'm enjoying my time here and the team is playing well."

Sea Wolves coach Steffon Walby said having Kvapil and Stan Lascek, who was scratched for Thursday's game, back on the roster gives the team a boost.

"When they get recalled, they don't play," Walby said. "Now they come back and say that this is a true team atmosphere and this is where we want to be. It's exciting to them so they bring the energy. And it shows. That line played unbelievable."
