The Norfolk Admirals are reporting that the Tampa Bay Lightning have traded minor league defenseman Jay Leach to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for RW minor leaguer Brandon Segal and a 2008 7th round pick.

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of North Delta, British Columbia, Segal has five goals and 14 points in 54 games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL this season. He is a veteran of 313 career AHL games with 61 goals and 112 points. He has played in 41 career Calder Cup Playoff games with five goals and eight points. He helped the Milwaukee Admirals with the 2004 Calder Cup and also helped them to reach the 2006 Calder Cup Finals where they fell in six games.

Segal, 24, played 242 career games in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen. He scored 108 goals and recorded 198 points with 358 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fourth-round, 102nd overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to Anaheim on June 26, 2007 in exchange for future considerations and signed a one-year deal with the Ducks later in the summer.
