2008 USHL CLARK CUP PLAYOFFS – ROUND 1

Game 1: (4) Chicago Steel 4 @ (1) Indiana Ice 3
Chicago leads Best of 5 series 1-0

W/C Luca Cunti, CHI:
Game: 1-1-2, +1, 2 PIM (high sticking), 2 shots on goal

Chicago upset top-seeded Indiana 4-3 on Indiana’s home ice to take an early 1-0 lead in the Best of 5 series. Cunti scored Chicago’s second goal late in the second period to tie the game at 2. He would earn the secondary assist on the Steel’s third goal, which came just a minute after the Ice had taken a 3-2 lead early in the third period. Chicago would score the game winner with 2 1/2 minutes left in the third. Game 2 is Saturday in Indiana.

Future Line Combo

Submitted by pete on 11 April 2008 - 9:01am.

I was thinking this morning...

If Luca Cunti pans out to his potential and Dana Tyrell pans out (and I think Tyrell is pretty bust proof as a second line complimentary winger), how dynamic could a Cunti/Stamkos/Tyrell line be? That line would be a pain in the neck to have to defend because they've all got speed, Cunti and Stamkos have elite level skill (and Tyrell isn't a slouch in the hands department), and then you've got Tyrell to buzz around and be the first guy in on the forecheck.

Impressed

Submitted by Randy on 11 April 2008 - 9:38am.

I have been impressed with Tyrell here in Norfolk on his ATO. He does have excellent speed and very good hands. But what really impresses me is that he doesn't shy away from physical play. He will be an excellent forechecker. He shows good maturity and doesn't seem to be over-awed and lost out there.

My only lament is that he can't play here next season due to the CHL/NHL/AHL eligibility rules. I think he is ready for the AHL level now. Oh well, just have to wait.

Tyrell

Submitted by pete on 11 April 2008 - 4:31pm.

You know who might be a good comparison for Tyrell? Sami Kapanen. I think that's the kind of player he's going to be. A guy who will get you 20-25 goals and 55-65 points, has great speed, and great work ethic, and can play in all phases of the game. They're about the exact same size and both have elite level speed. That's the guy I think Tyrell can be like: Sami Kapanen.
