Lightning Acquire Niskala from Flyers

Six days after being traded to Philadelphia from Nashville, the Tampa Bay Lighting acquired rearguard restricted free agent prospect Janne Niskala in exchange for a 2009 6th round pick.

Niskala, caught in a numbers game in a crowded Predators blueline, was rumored to have recently signed a contract to play in Russia next season and was subsequently traded to Philadelphia for prospect Triston Grant and a 2009 7th round pick. Niskala, the leading scoring defenseman on the bronze medal winning Finnish world team, notched 19 goals and 44 points last season for Nashville's AHL affiliate in Milwaukee.
