Elitserien Regular Season Ends With a Loss For Norrena

Fredrik Norrena and Linkopings fell 2-0 today to #1 seeded HV71 in the regular season finale for both teams. Norrena stopped 25 of 27 shots faced in the loss. His final record was 19-11-5 this season with a .914 save percentage (7th Elitserien), a 2.16 GAA (T-4th Elitserien) and 4 shutouts (T-4th Elitserien).

Johnstown coughed up a third period lead to come away empty handed. Morgan Cey stopped 38 of 41 shots faced in the loss. Dennis Packard scored both goals for the Chiefs on a pair of primary helpers by Zbynek Hrdel.

Further complicating the Springfield Falcons situation on a day that saw Nick Tarnasky and Darren Reid recalled to Tampa, they sent left wing Dennis Packard down to Johnstown.

With Tarnasky and Reid headed to join the big club the Falcons had to play this game a man short. Gerald Coleman was hung out to dry allowing 6 goals on 37 shots faced. The Falcons were outshot 37 to 21 for the game. Doug O'Brien had a goal assisted by the Czech/Slovak connection Blatny and Kvapil. Reemerging from the wilderness, David Spina also scored his 8th of the season in garbage time.

Stan Lascek assisted on a Maxime Boisclair empty net goal and Chicoutimi beat Baie-Comeau 4-2.

Radek Smolenak scored his 36th goal of the season and added an assist, but Kingston fell 5-4 in overtime to London.

Despite Chris Lawrence's 20th goal of the season, Brampton spanked Mississauga 6-3.

Goaltender Kevin Beech got the day off as Sudbury defeated Oshawa 4-3

Despite a Blair Jones assist, Moose Jaw lost a squeaker to Regina 4-3.

Justin Keller had 1 assist and was +1, but Kelowna was beaten handily by Everett 4-1.
