Dimitry Afanasenkov's ridiculous turnover on Boston's winning goal will get all the attention, but the real problem right now is two games into the season Lecavalier, Richards and St. Louis have zero goals. BOS-3 TB-2 Marc Denis stopped 22 of 25 in the loss. Goals scored by Ruslan Fedotenko and Bolt Prospects alumni Ryan Craig. Game sheet from NHL.com. Doug Janik played 13:23 as the Lightning once again went with 7 d-men. Eric Perrin took a tremendous leap in ice time going to 18:14 of +1 hockey with 2 shots and 1 blocked shot as well as going 60% on draws. Nick Tarnasky made his debut tonight playing just 3:49 with 1 hit.

As reported by BP member chelya, Vasily Koshechkin had his second shutout today blanking Magnitogorsk 4-0. The win moves Koshechkin to 5-2-2 this year. Alexei Glukhov had a power play assist as Cherepovets beat Omsk 5-3. Anton But was scoreless in SKA's 2-1 loss to Khimik. Alex Polushin DNP. Evgeny Artyukhin was scoreless in Yaroslavl's 2-2 tie with Novosibirsk. Artyukhin has just 1 assist and is -3 in 11 games this season. Artyukhin's 60 penalty minutes are tied for tops in the Superleague with former Lightning enforcer Reid Simpson.

The Springfield Falcons have announced the signing of center Jared Aulin to a PTO contract just hours before they take the ice for opening night 2006-2007. Aulin, who was once a top prospect in the Kings and Capitals organizations, was originally a 2nd round pick of the Colorado Avalanche organization in 2002. Aulin spent parts of five season with Kamloops of the WHL scoring 31 goals and 108 points in 70 games in his best junior season in 2000-2001. His best professional season came in 2002-2003 as a rookie when he had 12 goals and 44 points with Manchester of the AHL. He also played 17 games with the LA Kings that season scoring 2 goals and 4 points. Aulin, who stands at 6'0" 192 lbs, has spent the past two years in the Caps organization posting nearly identical 11 goal and 39 point seasons in Portland and last year's Calder Cup champion, Hershey. Presumably the signing will allow the Lightning to send another prospect forward down to Johnstown of the ECHL where they currently only have 9 forwards officially in camp. Aulin's signing is, in part, an attempt to compensate for the loss or Eric Perrin who made the Lightning out of camp. Also, overage prospect Norm Milley has been named team captain.

Vasily Koshechkin got his win and shutout tonight. Lada get the 4-0 win in Magnitogorsk vs. Metallurg, one of the best attacking team in the Superleague. I watched this game on TV. Kosheckin made several critical saves, including a three rebound shots on after one in the second period when Lada played two players short.
