The 2005-06 Ontario Hockey League season got underway last night when Paul Mara's alma mater, the Plymouth Whalers, beat Marek Kvapil's former team, the Saginaw Spirit, 7-2. It looks like Saginaw is in for a long year once again. A Lightning member in Traverse City this year, Spirit defenseman Steve Whitely, was minus-two for the game. Tonight, September 22, Lightning prospects get into action as Marek Bartanus and the Owen Sound Attack visit the Barrie Colts. Bartanus had a goal in Owen Sound's final exhibition game and is expected to provide offense in his first season in North America. Bartanus, a fourth round pick of the Bolts this year, had 14 goals and 14 assists in 34 games for HC Kosice in the Slovakia junior league last year.

Mark Tobin managed just two shots on goal and an even rating for Rimouski in a 3-2 Tuesday night loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Tobin continues to receive solid ice time for a depleted Oceanic squad. Rimouski fell to 1-2 after the loss. They play their fourth straight home game Friday vs. Gatineau.
