Jared Nightingale, the Michigan State University product who spent 10 tryout games with the Springfield Falcons last year, has signed a two-way AHL/ECHL contract
with the Iowa Stars that should see him split the season with Iowa (AHL) and the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL). Nightingale had a goal and an assist in his 10 games with the Falcons last year, also earning 18 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed defenseman played in 156 games in four seasons at Michigan State, where he accumulated 161 penalty minutes and 23 points (21 assists, two goals).
Also, Mike Oullette, who played for the Falcons after completing his career at Dartmouth College, was signed by the Hartford Wolfpack. Oullette, who had one assist in three games with Springfield, was part of the Lightning's prospect camp in July. The center had one assist in five scrimmage games.
