According to the Grand Forks Herald [4], University of North Dakota defenseman Matt Smaby [5] was named team captain by his teammates this week.
"I think he's a guy who has a natural presence to him," Coach Dave Hakstol told The Herald. "I think this is good timing for this kind of a step for him. He's been a leader on teams before and I think he's ready to be a captain at this level."
