"There's a lot of people who believe the Swedish Elitserien is the second best league in the world, and Harju dominated it at the ripe old age of 22. It's never a bad thing when they start comparing you to Johan Franzen." -Pete, BoltProspects
Harju is a pure sniper with a hard, quick, accurate shot. He also has a good 6'3" frame, which he uses to shield the puck down low in the offensive zone. He loves to go to the net and will finish in tight if he has a premiere setup man on his line.
Harju is a late bloomer who was held back early in his career by subpar skating. At just a shade over 205 pounds, he could still stand to fill out his frame with more muscle. He also lacks blow-by speed and has a plodding first step.
There was very little fanfare in the scouting community when the Lightning took Harju in the 6th round of the 2007 draft, but he has shown signs of being quite a steal. His size and shot will no doubt bring to mind instant parallels to former Lightning star Fredrik Modin, and his versatility makes him an excellent candidate to make a quick transition to the NHL if and when he finally comes to North America. The Lightning failed to get Harju over for the 2009-2010 season, but the club has already publicly stated their intention to sign Harju next summer.
