This season Bolt Prospects introduced our Prospect of the Week award, an honor (virtually) given to one Tampa Bay Lightning prospect for their on-ice contributions. There are no trophies or plaques or kisses from Morganna involved, but we’re fairly certain this will be printed off and end up on a mantle somewhere. Quite simply, we wanted to highlight prospects throughout the year to help fans get better acquainted with the next round of Lightning stars while recognizing the prospect’s achievement on the ice.
This week’s BP Prospect of the Week award goes to … Radko Gudas , Norfolk Admirals
Gudas, a defenseman, scored twice and added an assist last weekend as the Ads split with the Hershey Bears. Those two goals are halfway to his career high of four goals, set last year in his rookie pro season. The 6-0, 200+ pound defenseman has four points on the year.
Both of Gudas's goals came Saturday in Hershey, about five minutes apart. He turned a 1-0 Hershey lead into a 2-1 Norfolk lead. The Ads eventually won in overtime on a Michel Ouellet goal, 6-5.
Gudas is not known for his goal scoring, but what he does bring is intimidating physical play in the style of Darius Kasparaitis, and underrated puckmoving skills. He is quickly becoming a well rounded defensive prospect for the Bolts, and could be in the NHL within two years.
