This season Bolt Prospects introduced our Prospect of the Week award, an honor (virtually) given to one Tampa Bay Lightning prospect for their on-ice contributions. There are no trophies or plaques, but we’re pretty sure this carries more weight than an Ivy League degree in some circles (maybe the Google+ circles?).
Quite simply, we wanted to highlight prospects throughout the year to help fans get better acquainted with the next round of Lightning stars while recognizing the prospect’s achievement on the ice.
This week’s BP Prospect of the Week award goes to … Alex Killorn [6], Right Wing, Harvard Crimson (NCAA – USA)
The Lightning’s “stealth†prospect, Killorn has the size, skating, and talent to contribute at the NHL level within two years. Now a senior at Harvard, Killorn had a big week for the Crimson last week, scoring twice and adding an assist in a wild 7-6 win over New Hampshire. A few nights later he added an assist in a 3-3 tie against Dartmouth.
Killorn, a 2007 third round pick of the Bolts, currently leads the Crimson in scoring with five goals and five assists in eight games.
The 6'2", 207-pound forward will graduate this spring and will likely begin next season in AHL Norfolk. He projects as a scoring line forward who can play both ways and on every line. The Montreal native is a physical player who isn't afraid to get his nose dirty.
