Coming off a tough loss to Rouyn-Noranda in which the Huskies did the unthinkable, holding both Stan Lascek and Maxime Boisclair off the scoresheet, the Sagueneens were looking to rebound in a big way as they visited expansion St. John's Tuesday night. The Sags found themselves still in a fog, however, as St. John's took them through overtime and into a shootout to decide the game.
Lightning prospect Stan Lascek, who set up the Sags tying goal mid-way through the third period, scored on the first attempt of the shootout, and that goal stood up as Chicoutimi won the shootout after three rounds, 1-0. The 3-2 win over the Fog Devils moved Chicoutimi to 80 points, one ahead of Moncton, who lost in a shootout to Lewiston Tuesday. The win also kept them one point ahead of Quebec, who beat Shawinigan 4-3. Chicoutimi now stands at the top of the league table by themselves.
