Johan Harju was scoreless in Lulea's 2-2 tie with Linkopings.
Andreas Holmqvist had 2 penalty minutes in Frolunda's 3-3 tie with Mora.
Friday night's highlights:
Struggling blueliner Andy Rogers makes a statement of his own last night in his Mississippi debut by tallying a power play blast from the point at 10:32 of the third period. Rogers' marker gave the Wolves their first lead of the game as the team battled back from a 3-0 1st period deficit to win their second consecutive road game. Zbynek Hrdel began Mississippi's comeback scoring the Wolves first goal at 14:34 of the first period.
The Sea Wolves peppered the Inferno with a season-high 45 shots, including 5 from Rogers.
Bolt Prospects' #1 rated prospect in the organization, Karri Ramo, made a statement in his second game back from injury stopping 38 of 39 shots for the win. The Admirals were outshot 39-17 in the game, but Ramo was simply too much for Philly earning first star of the game honors.
NOR Keller, (4) (Wanvig, Henrich), 10:56
PHI Potulny, (9) (Ross, Ruzicka), 13:45 (PP)
NOR Jones, (6) (Stewart, Milley), 6:54
Ramo and Blair Jones were first and second stars of the game, respectively.
The kind of resiliency it takes to go from getting severely roughed up in the third period of the game against Binghamton (his first back from the high ankle sprain) to going out and almost single-handedly beating the best team in the division is, in a word, special. Let the pool for when Ramo gets recalled and makes his first NHL start giving Holmqvist a well earned night off begin. I have next Saturday, December 15th, against the Caps.
Game sheet from TheAHL.com.
Deerfield Academy 9 @ Northfield Mount Herman 0
C Alex Killorn, DFA: 1-2-3 (unofficial)
Killorn's goal came when he "stripped the puck off a NMH defender and went wide, warding off defenders and eventually found the far corner of the net." He unofficially has 5 goals and 3 assists in 2 games this year. Deerfield has outscored its opponents 15-0 so far.
Tabor Academy 2 @ Noble and Greenough School 2 (OT)
C/W Matt Marshall, Nobles: No stats listed.
And the Southeast Division re-tightens.
Johan Holmqvist was outstanding stopping 23 of 24 shots for the win.
Tampa Bay 12:45, Martin St. Louis 10 (power play) (Vincent Lecavalier, Filip Kuba)
Carolina 19:46, Cory Stillman 16 (David Tanabe, Eric Staal)
The Lightning pull back to within 5 points of first place in the division and they hold a game in hand on the Canes. My expectation going into this season was that the Lightning and Canes would be the division's playoff representatives and probably battle for the division crown to the bitter end of the regular season. I've seen nothing to dissuade me from that notion. Carolina has had opportunities to bury the Lightning in the standings, but head to head Tampa dominates.
Mathuey Darche was -1 in 17:51 with 5 hits and 2 blocked shots.
Mike Lundin was even in 14:12 with 2 shots on goal.
The Norfolk Admirals have announced that defenseman Andy Rogers has been re-assigned to Mississippi of the ECHL. Rogers, a first round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, has struggled throughout the past two seasons with injuries after nearly making the Lightning out of training camp at the start of the 2005-2006 season.
