Johan Harju was scoreless as Lulea was shutout by HV 71 4-0.
Andreas Holmqvist was scoreless in Frolunda's 4-2 win over Mora.
In the new era of the NHL where the salary cap reigns, it is imperative clubs find and develop their own talent through their farm system. Since the lockout in 2004-2005, the Lightning has been forced to compete to stay at the top of the food chain by carefully shopping for affordable free agents and coordinating financially-sensitive trades. While other clubs have had the option of plugging multiple holes with cost-feasible prospects, the Lightning has been forced to look outside the organizational depth chart for help.
Damian Crisdotero reports on his blog that forward Andreas Karlsson will not make it back for Wednesday's game against Florida. It was anticipated that Karlsson, suffering from an abdominal strain, might be back for the front end of the two game set against the Panthers but it does not appear to be in the cards.
Condolences to Admirals fans as it looks like Norfolk won't get Mathieu Darche back in time for their upcoming game this Friday against Bridgeport. Norfolk has three games in three nights this weekend, including a grudge match in Springfield on Sunday afternoon.
The NCAA exhibition season got underway this past weekend with two Lightning prospects in action.
Western Ontario 1 @ No.10 Michigan 6
D Kevin Quick, MICH: 0-0-0, +2, 2 SOG
Quick, a freshman, made his Michigan debut for the Wolverines and was involved in some scoring chances but did not register a point in the exhibition game. According to MGoBlue.com, Quick jumped into a play and took a drop pass from Michigan captain and Phoenix Coyote draft pick Kevin Porter, firing a one-timer blocker side on the UWO goaltender Brad Topping, who got a piece of the shot. Michigan held their Blue vs. White game on Saturday. Quick, who is wearing No.27, did not register a point and was even with a shot on goal in the intrasquad game for Team White, who lost 6-3.
Trois-Rivieres 0 @ U-Mass 6
D John Wessbecker, UMASS: 0-0-0, 0 PIM, +1
The University of Massachusetts opened their 2007-2008 season with an exhibition win over Trois-Rivieres. Wessbecker, a junior and former seventh round pick, is coming off a sophomore year in which he registered one point on a goal.
Albert Vishnyakov did not play in Spartak's 2-1 overtime loss to Khimik.
The Lightning has confirmed Stanislav Lascek did indeed suffer an injury during Norfolk's training camp. Lightning General Manager Jay Feaster said the injury was not sustained on the ice and no specifics were offered on the injury's whereabouts or cause.
Lascek struggled in Traverse City in early September and also failed to make a strong impression in his brief time in Norfolk camp before this latest injury. As a result, Feaster stated Lascek will be assigned to ECHL Mississippi when he is cleared to play.
A former QMJHL scoring star, Lascek split his rookie pro season last year between ECHL Johnstown (25 GP, 12-15-27) and AHL Springfield (29 GP, 2-2-4). He had 135 points in 64 games for Chicoutimi in his final year of junior.
Lascek has two years remaining on his entry level contract, including this season.
The October 6th Elitserien game in which Johan Harju scored a pair of goals was incorrectly reported as being a 6-4 Lulea loss. In actuality, Lulea won the match 6-4 over Farjestads. We regret the error.

Prince Albert Raiders 2 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 4
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 1-1-2, E, 0 PIM
Mitch Fadden notched his fourth multi-point game of the year as Lethbridge dominated the Raiders in shots-on-goal, 28-9. Despite disparity in shots, it took Fadden’s power play goal at the 15:28 mark of the third period to break a 2-2 tie. The ‘Canes added an empty netter in the final minute to give the game its final score. Fadden is now tied for second in the league in goals (6) and third in points (11).
Calgary Hitmen 5 @ Prince George Cougars 3
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM
The Hitmen are now 8-1-0-0 on the year after breaking open a close game in the second period and defeating the 1-6-0-0 Cougars in Prince George, 5-3.

After a slow start, the MAINEiacs have now won three in a row.
