Albert Vishnyakov did not play in Spartak's 1-0 loss to Yaroslavl.
Evgeny Artyukhin had 2 goals in Omsk's 3-2 overtime win over Cherepovets. Alexei Glukhov was scoreless in the match for Severstal.
Dimitri Kazionov was scoreless in Kazan's 3-2 loss to Novokuznetsk. His younger brother Denis did not play for Novokuznetsk.
Anton But was scoreless in a wild 7-4 St. Petersburg win against Chekhov.
That was an awesome home opener. That was a great indoctrination into what the Norfolk fan base is all about.

Ryan Munce had a relatively light night stopping 17 of 18 for the win. That did include stopping a breakaway and a handful of other dangerous chances, but for the most part Norfolk's defense kept Binghamton from getting any puck possession and when they did they were kept out to the perimeter.

Johan Holmqvist allowed 4 goals on 23 shots in the loss. Two of the goals went through Holmer, albeit one on a deflection and one through a screen, and the final Bruins goal resulted from a Holmqvist whiff on a pass across the top of his crease he clearly should've gotten. You can't say he cost the Lightning the game tonight because Thomas was unsolvable for the B's, but it might be time for Marc Denis to get his first start.

Helenius, the WHL goaltending leader in GAA and Save Percentage entering the game, was pulled just after the 15 minute mark of the first period with the T-Birds down 3-0. Jacob DeSerres came in and stopped 30 of 33 shots in relief as Chilliwack peppered Seattle with 50 shots. The Bruins, who are 7-1-1-1 in their second year of existence, held 19-4 and 36-9 shots-on-goal advantages after the first and second periods. The Thunderbirds managed just 15 shots in the fight-filled game.
