Nitra built up a 4-0 lead through the first two periods which held up in the final frame despite a furious three-goal rally by visiting Banska Bystrica. Dana Tyrell, who provided an offensive spark in his first two games with his new Slovakian club, was inactive Sunday. There is no word yet whether he was a healthy scratch or out due to injury. Banska Bystrica (13-14-4-1, 48 PTS) will have a couple days to rest up before hosting Martin (9-16-4-2, 37 PTS) on Wednesday.

Banska Bystrica won its second match of the weekend, fending off league powerhouse Nitra on Sunday by a narrow margin. Dana Tyrell had helpers on both goals for the home team, the first coming on the power play after a failed pass attempt that Clayton Stoner gathered and fired on net, generating a rebound that banked in after being in front from the left side of the net. The other Tyrell gained by chipping the puck to a teammate steaming through center ice, springing a successful 2-on-1. Banska Bystrica (13-13-4-1, 48 PTS) and Nitra (15-9-5-2, 57 PTS) will spend this week at rest before squaring off again on Sunday.

Dana Tyrell had an assist in his debut appearance with Banska Bystrica, which gradually worked its way to a 3-0 lead in the third period that held up against Zilina, which only broke the shutout in the final minute of regulation. Tyrell was on the ice for all of his team's goals and, though he wasn't credited on the statsheet, was even a factor in the home squad's second goal as he parked out front of the opposing net and provided a timely screen as teammate Clayton Stoner unleashed a blast from above the circles. Banska Bystrica (12-13-4-1, 45 PTS), which boasts NHLers Tanner Glass, Michal Handzus and Stoner in addition to Tyrell, next faces Nitra (15-8-5-2, 57 PTS), currently the second-place team in the league standings, at home on Sunday.
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward Dana Tyrell to a two-year, one-way contract covering the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.
