NA Juniors Game Night: 1-4-2014

Ontario Hockey League

North Bay Battalion 5 @ Ottawa 67’s 6 (OT)

D Dylan Blujus, NB: 1-1-2, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 27 GP, 3-8-11, -14, 34 PIM
2012-13 totals: 68 GP, 2-27-29, -8, 57 PIM

Blujus (pictured) had his third multi-point game of the season in North Bay’s 6-5 overtime loss. The Battalion outshot the 67’s, 46-19.

Oshawa Generals 2 @ Barrie Colts 2

D Jake Dotchin, BAR: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 38 GP, 7-15-22, +16, 83 PIM
2012-13 totals: 66 GP, 4-18-22, E, 81 PIM

Oshawa outshot Barrie, 43-30, including 19-10 in the third period when they erased a 2-0 deficit. Barrie won the 6-round shootout, 1-0. Dotchin did not participate in the shootout.

Windsor Spitfires 1 @ Belleville Bulls 3

D Slater Koekkoek, WSR: 1-0-1, -1, 0 PIM
Season totals: 38 GP, 10-22-32, +39, 22 PIM
2012-13 totals: 40 GP, 6-23-29, -24, 28 PIM

Koekkoek took a minus on a Belleville empty net goal to drop him back below plus-40. He scored when his shot was blocked and he gathered the puck and wristed it home. Windsor reporter Jim Parker said Koekkoek had over 21 minutes of ice time after two periods. The OHL does not publish official time-on-ice stats. He apparently had over 30 minutes on Friday night. He’s certainly making up for time lost by injury the last two seasons. His 10 goals are tied for second in the OHL and his 32 points are tied for third. He leads in plus/minus. He’s already set career highs for goals and points in a season and is one assist away from matching that career best.

Brett Connolly's game has been simmering nicely the past several weeks in Syracuse, but in his last two games he's gotten white hot. Tonight's 2 goals and 3 points marked the second straight 3 point game for the former first rounder and it included a wonderful individual effort tonight to score a goal to get within 1 and the primary assist on the tying goal. In the last 15 games Connolly has 8 goals and 19 points, and he's starting to close in on a point a game for the season at 20 points in 23 games. After failing to gain traction in his first Tampa Bay cup of coffee this season, Connolly may be making a case for another audition soon.
