NHL Game Night: 11-14 Kings at Lightning

The Lightning finally work in one of their mandatory 3-4 late game goal wave off hosings.

LA-2
TB-1 (SO)

Antero Niittymaki allowed 1 goal on 30 shots and only 1 of 3 shooters to score in the shootout, but still took the loss. I'm thinking the Finnish goaltenders in the organization are feeling discriminated against for lack of goal support tonight.

LA- Kopitar
TB- NONE

A controversial wave off of an Andrei Meszaros overtime goal ushered the Lightning into the shootout where they re-established their season-long streak of futility after a brief taste of success against Minnesota.

Steve Downie had 2 penalty minutes and 3 hits in 13:49.

Zenon Konopka had 15 penalty minutes, 1 shot, and 1 hit in 6:02.

Paul Szczechura had 1 shot and 1 blocked shot in 13:25.

James Wright had 1 shot in 8:57.

Victor Hedman had 3 shots, 1 hit, and 2 blocked shots in 26:13.

AHL Game Night: 11-14 Admirals at River Rats

Another one gets away from the Admirals late.

NOR-1
ALB-2 (OT)

Riku Helenius allowed 2 goals on 27 shots for the overtime loss. That's a tough fate for a goaltender who played over 58 minutes of shutout hockey tonight. He didn't get the goal support he's become accustomed to, however.

Radek Smolenak was named the game's third star. If I told you coming into the year that it would take 17 games for Radek to get his first goal and the team would be .500 and sitting in fourth in the division without his goal production, you'd have laughed at me, I'm sure.
