Canada Wins Game Three of Super Seires
Submitted by pete on September 1, 2007 - 01:44The much publicized Super Series between the top U20 junior players in Canada and Russia is quickly becoming a super sized rout. Canada extended their series lead to 3-0 on Friday defeating the Russians in a lopsided 6-2 win. Lightning prospect Dana Tyrell found his way onto the scorer's sheet for the first time in the series, albeit by means of a 2 minute roughing penalty.

Canada Takes Game Two of Super Series
Submitted by pete on August 29, 2007 - 18:07David Perron scored 1 goal and 1 assist today to help Canada defeat Russia 3-0 today in Game Two of the Super Series. The Canadians now hold a 2-0 lead in the series. Lightning prospect Dana Tyrell again failed to find his way onto the scoresheet. The forward is being used sparingly in a fourth line role.

Canadian Juniors Win Game One of Super Series
Submitted by pete on August 27, 2007 - 13:22In Ufa, Russia, Canada scored four unanswered goal to defeat Russia and win Game One of the Super Series 4-2. Lightning prospect Dana Tyrell did not find the scoresheet for Team Canada.

QMJHL Preseason Opens
Submitted by pete on August 26, 2007 - 21:30North American hockey officially got underway this weekend with the QMJHL dropping the puck on preseason action this Saturday. Lightning prospect defenseman Michael Ward was named the game's second star in a 5-4 loss to Acadie-Bathurst after posting a goal and an assist on the power play. Ward was selected by the Lightning in the 7th round of this summer's NHL Entry Draft.

European Preseason Games Underway
Submitted by pete on August 23, 2007 - 23:17Preseason games are finally underway throughout Europe with most teams participating in preseason tournaments and individual preseason games.
Last Tuesday, Andreas Holmqvist made his debut for his new club Frolunda on the team's first pairing in a 3-2 win over Djurgardens. Holmqvist assisted on the game's opening goal by Niklas Andersson. Frolunda is one of several teams from Sweden and Finland vying for the Nordic Trophy.
Johan Harju's club Lulea got underway last Friday in a 4-4 tie against Brynas. No box score was available from the game. Lulea dropped a 3-2 match to Sodertalje the following day. Again, no box score was available.
So, although details aren't readily available from overseas, it is clear that hockey season has indeed arrived.
