Brynas entered game four of the best-of-seven series with their season on life-support, needing a win to stay alive, but crumbled after Skelleftea struck on the power play approaching the midpoint of the middle frame and wound up shutout and swept in front of the home crowd. Just as had been the case in the three previous matches, Brynas had difficulty solving Skelleftea's goaltending, even despite seeing more balance in the frequency of opportunities. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist, who made every start for Brynas, stopped 29 of 32 Skelleftea attempts on net. Like his club, Johan Harju, who was his team's leading goal-scorer and among the team leaders in total production in the regular season, finished his postseason in extremely disappointing fashion having gone pointless in the series.

Brynas came into the third game of the best-of-seven series in desperate need of a win but came up well short, allowing Skelleftea to score four unanswered goals after taking the initial lead just past the midpoint of the middle period, Saturday night. Brynas only managed to get 22 of 36 attempted shots on goal while, as was the case in the first match, Skelleftea was relentless with its possession game, registering 45 shots, 19 of which came in the final frame, on 60 attempts. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist was back between the pipes after being pulled in the previous match. Holmqvist, who was tested early and often, made 41 saves. Johan Harju, like so many of his teammates, continues to find himself stifled. Brynas will now host Skelleftea on Monday with their season in grave jeopardy of coming to the swiftest conclusion possible.

Brynas found itself down 5-0 early in the third period before it managed to notch a couple goals of its own but Skelleftea, the league's top team in the standings during regular season, responded in kind to complete its second-straight rout of the 8th-place seed. After being heavily outshot in the first game of the series, Brynas managed to finish the second match with a virtually balanced short-margin although that was due in large part to the lopsided after the midway point of the middle frame. Brynas has been outscored 12-3 in the series so far. Johan Harju, one of the key offensive pieces for Brynas, has yet to find the net, nor register an assist, after finishing the season as the club's leading goal-scorer and one of the top overall producers. After getting the start, former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist was pulled in favor of Robin Rahm after allowing 4 goals on 26 shots. Rahm didn't fare much better, surrendering 3 goals on 6 shots, but Holmqvist was still charged with the loss. Brynas heads back to Skelleftea's barn on Saturday to try and stave off a third-consecutive loss that would put the club's season on the brink in the best-of-seven series.

Eighth-seed Brynas managed to hang with the league's top club for the better part of two periods but Skelleftea struck twice within a minute shortly before the second intermission and then piled on three more goals in the final frame to complete what amounted to a thorough rout of the visitors. Brynas, which allowed Skelleftea 62 attempted shots, spent a lot of time defending and, not surprisingly, thus had difficulty mounting much of an attack at the other end, only managing to attempt 22 shots, of which only 14 made it on goal. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist stopped 36 of the 41 shots he faced in the loss. Brynas hosts Skelleftea on Thursday for the second match of the best-of-seven series.

Johan Harju, Brynas, 1-0-1, -2, 3 SOG, 0 PIM
Season totals: 55 GP, 18-10-28, -9, 16 PIM

In its regular season finale and with playoff action already a certainty, Brynas jumped out a lead early in the first but Linkopings would respond quickly and often, scoring three times in the first period and once in the second, to carry the match. Johan Harju opened the scoring in the first period when, while parked in front of and facing away from the net during a power play, he chipped a pass to his forehand side, wheeled and quickly shoved it on goal. The shot narrowly tucked past the outstretched right leg pad of opposing netminder Christian Engstrand and inside the right post, giving Harju his team-high 18th goal of the season and a fourth-place finish in total points. Skelleftea, the league's regular season leader in the standings, has chosen Brynas, which finished the regular season with a 17-20-6-12 record (75 points) that earned them the last playoff spot, to be its quarterfinals opponent. Both teams will square off for the first game of the pending series next Tuesday.

Johan Harju managed a secondary assist on the game's lone goal, a power play tally by Ryan Gunderson just past the midpoint of the third period. After scoring last match, Harju had a mostly clean stat line. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist, who got the nod yet again, stopped 24 of 25 shots on goal in the match. On Saturday, Brynas (16-19-6-12, 72 PTS) travels to take on AIK (15-24-7-7, 66 PTS), which has three straight victories over the pending visitors.

Facing a top club 30 points ahead in the league standings, Brynas was efficient, netting three goals despite limited opportunities to force overtime but former NHLer Jason Krog spoiled a potential upset with a goal during the extra session that gave HV 71 the extra point. Gustaf Wesslau, who got the start in net for HV 71, only saw 17 shots in the contest. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist, who was peppered all night, stopped 37 of 41 shots in defeat. Johan Harju potted his first goal since January 24th, a span of eight games. Brynas (15-19-6-12, 69 PTS) now returns home to face MODO (19-18-7-8, 79 PTS) Thursday.

After a 10-day break, Brynas returned to action at home against Timra and suffered their seventh-straight defeat when former Lightning forward Radek Smolenak scored the game-deciding shootout goal for the visitors. Johan Harju ended his four-game scoreless skid late in the third period when he fed a pass from high along the boards to defenseman Ryan Gunderson who was manning the point and whose resulting shot through traffic provided an even-strength equalizer that sent the game into overtime. In net for Brynas was former Bolts netminder Johan Holmqvist, who stopped 31 of 35 shots in the loss. Brynas (15-18-5-10, 65 PTS) hosts Vaxjo (12-22-7-6, 56 PTS) on Saturday.

Former Bolts netminder Johan Holmqvist took the loss, allowing five goals on thirty-one shots before getting the hook. Andreas Thuresson scored the only goal for Farjestads allowed. Next up for Brynas (15-17-5-9, 64 PTS) is road match against Lulea (18-11-9-7, 79 PTS), Harju's former club, on Saturday.
