Jung, Torrie

N.A. Juniors Game Night: 2/19

Kelowna Rockets 1 @ Spokane Chiefs 2
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Loss, stopped 26 of 28 shots, *Second Star*

Jung took a shutout into the second half of the third period, but Spokane would score two goals, including the winner with just over 2 minutes to go in the game. Jung has not won in 5 straight starts and has lost 7 of 8 since a personal 5 game win streak in early January.

Brotherly Love: Drayson Bowman of Spokane, who scored the game winning goal, fought his brother, Collin Bowman of Kelowna, early in the third period.

WHL Playoff Update: It appears all Lightning WHL prospects will be in the playoffs with the exception of Dana Tyrell of Prince George. Kelowna (Jung) and Lethbridge (Fadden) may be the only teams with a Lightning prospect to host a first round series, however.

Jung Named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

The Canadian Hockey League announced yesterday that Lightning prospect Torrie Jung of the Kelowna Rockets is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week after posting three wins with a 1.00 goals against average and .960 save percentage in three games last week.

The 18-year-old native of Nanaimo, BC made 33 saves in a 4-1 win over the Chilliwack Bruins on New Year’s Eve and followed up with 17 saves in a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday. He finished the week with 22 saves in a 6-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Sunday. Jung improved to 8-5-0-3 on the season with a 2.45 goals against average and .902 save percentage in 18 games.

Jung was taken in the seventh round (183rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning.

CHL Game Night 10/30: First Star Fadden

WHL
Edmonton Oil Kings 4 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 3 (SO)
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 1-2-3, E, 0 PIM

Fadden contributed to all three Hurricanes goals in regulation with his goal and two assists all coming on the power play. He had a chance to win the game in the shootout for Lethbridge, but did not convert as the Hurricanes’ third shooter. Expansion Edmonton won the game after 8 shooters, ending Lethbridge’s 5 game win streak.

Kamloops Blazers 1 @ Kelowna Rockets 6
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did Not Play.

It’s almost as if both Jung and Westblom got the night off. Westblom only faced 13 shots in a 6-1 Rockets win.

CHL, BCHL Game Night 10/24: Crowley Honored

WHL
Saskatoon Blades 3 @ Everett Silvertips 4
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 1-0-1, +1, 4 PIM, *First Star*

Crowley scored his second of the season and was named First Star. According Nick Patterson of the Everett Herald, Crowley and top pair defensive partner Taylor Ellington "did yeoman's work" on the backline, helping limit Saskatoon to 20 shots, and Crowley was "a man among boys." Crowley's goal came on a wrister from the point that found its way through traffic and over goaltender Braden Holtby's shoulder.

Results from Kelowna, Lewiston, and Victoria on the flip.
