Edmonton Oil Kings 4 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 3 (SO)
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 1-2-3, E, 0 PIM
Fadden contributed to all three Hurricanes goals in regulation with his goal and two assists all coming on the power play. He had a chance to win the game in the shootout for Lethbridge, but did not convert as the Hurricanes’ third shooter. Expansion Edmonton won the game after 8 shooters, ending Lethbridge’s 5 game win streak.
Kamloops Blazers 1 @ Kelowna Rockets 6
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did Not Play.
It’s almost as if both Jung and Westblom got the night off. Westblom only faced 13 shots in a 6-1 Rockets win.
Saskatoon Blades 3 @ Everett Silvertips 4
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 1-0-1, +1, 4 PIM, *First Star*
Crowley scored his second of the season and was named First Star. According Nick Patterson of the Everett Herald, Crowley and top pair defensive partner Taylor Ellington "did yeoman's work" on the backline, helping limit Saskatoon to 20 shots, and Crowley was "a man among boys." Crowley's goal came on a wrister from the point that found its way through traffic and over goaltender Braden Holtby's shoulder.
Results from Kelowna, Lewiston, and Victoria on the flip.

It's going to be extremely difficult for Torrie Jung to get back between the Kelowna pipes any time soon.
Calgary Hitmen 0 @ Kelowna Rockets 5
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did Not Play
Jung's competition in the Rocket's net, Kristofer Westblom, won his third straight game in his third straight start. All he did this time was shut out the Canadian Hockey League's top-ranked team, the Calgary Hitmen. Westblom stopped 28 shots in the win, earning first star honors.
Westblom and Jung began the year alternating, but the overager Westblom appears to have secured the No.1 job. This could put an end to the constant Westblom trade speculation, according to Kelowna broadcaster Regan Bartel, as the club has two of the best netminders in the conference and Bartel thinks the Rockets could be just as solid keeping both goalies. While this would be fine for Kelowna, and certainly no one would point a finger at them for it, we're looking at it from a developmental perspective and Jung will be missing valuable playing time.
Kelowna Rockets 4 @ Vancouver Giants 2
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did Not Play
A big win for Kelowna, but Kristofer Westblom got a second straight start (and win) for the Rockets.
Brandon Wheat Kings 5 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 2
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 0-0-0, -2, 0 PIM
After a five game point streak to start the season, Fadden has gone two games with no points. He was slated to move off of a line with 06-07 91-point scorer Zach Boychuk and onto a line with Yashar Farmanara, who came to Lethbridge with Fadden from Seattle two seasons ago. Boychuk and Fadden both have 9 points this year.
Everett Silvertips 5 @ Portland Winter Hawks 3
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 0-0-0, E, 6 PIM
Everett and Portland traded road wins to start the weekend. Crowley had minor and double-minor penalties for roughing.
Swift Current Broncos 6 @ Prince George Cougars 1
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
The Cougars are now 1-5-0-0 on the year and get to play WHL powerhouse Calgary Sunday.
Helenius got his first night-off of the season as Seattle, somewhat remarkably, lost their 12th shootout in a row.
Helenius and Seattle got the better of Jung and Kelowna in the first of a home-and-home set between the Thunderbirds and Rockets. The teams play again tonight (Saturday) in Seattle. Helenius's 1.62 Goals Against Average is tops in the WHL among goalies playing more than one game. His .922 save percentage is top-5.
Kootenay Ice 5 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 4
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 2-1-3, +3, 0 PIM, *First Star*
Fadden scored the game’s first two goals but Lethbridge blew a 4-0 lead late. Fadden is 3-2-5 in 3 games to start the year.
Kelowna was badly outshot, 35-21. Crowley had a power play assist in his 2007-2008 debut for Everett.
Lewiston MAINEiacs 2 @ Halifax Mooseheads 3
D Michael Ward, LEW: 0-1-1, E, 2 PIM, 1 SOG
Ward’s assist came on the power play. I watched the third period of this game on Teles, and Ward played significant minutes, including PP, PK, and was on the ice at the end of the game with the goalie pulled. He also had a good rush and two solid hits in the third. Several Q games appear to be available to view for free via www.lhjmq.qc.ca.
Cowichan Valley Capitals 5 @ Victoria Grizzlies 2
W Justin Courtnall, VIC: 0-1-1, 0 PIM
Courtnall has one goal and three assists in seven games so far this season for the 1-3-1(ties)-2 (OTL) Grizzlies.
Seattle Thunderbirds 2 @ Kamloops Blazers 3 (OT)
G Riku Helenius, SEA: OTL, 24 saves on 27 shots
Game Notes: Helenius’s first regular season game in North America was looking strong as he had a shutout through the first half of the game, but the T-Birds couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead and fell in overtime, 3-2 in Kamloops. Helenius is wearing No. 30 for Seattle.
Lethbridge Hurricanes 2 @ Medicine Hat Tigers 4
C Mitch Fadden, LET: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM
Game Notes: With his secondary assist, Fadden helped Lethbridge to an early 2-1 lead but the Hurricanes couldn’t hang on and dropped the second of a home-and-home series with the Tigers. The Hurricanes won on Friday. Fadden has a goal and an assist in two games this year.
