Campbell Sent Back to Springfield

Winger Jim Campbell has been returned to Springfield of the AHL according to the Falcons. Campbell played in just one game during his call up, the Lightning's 1-0 overtime win against the Rangers, but became the odd man out when Ryan Craig returned last night from a broken toe.

Game Night 1/4: Falcons at River Rats

A depleted Falcons roster failed to halt a long losing streak. SPR-1 ALB-4 Coleman stopped 27 of 31 in the loss. Marek Kvapil scored Springfield's lone goal on an assist by David Spina. Game sheet from TheAHL.com.

Lightning Recall Campbell/Milley

In response to last night's injuries to Fredrik Modin and Rob DiMaio, the Lightning have recalled wingers Jim Campbell and Norm Milley from Springfield of the AHL. The domino effect was the recall of left wing Randy Rowe from Johnstown of the ECHL to Springfield.

Game Night 12/31: Falcons at Pirates

Good news/bad news: SPR-4 POR-5 (OT) The good news is the Falcons got a point finally after a long drought. The bad news is that they blew a 3-0 lead and had to scramble for a 3rd period tying goal just to get that point. Ryan Vesce led the way for Springfield with the key tying goal and an assist while veteran Jim Campbell dropped in two assists. Goaltender Brian Eklund stopped 36 of 41 shots faced in the loss. Honest question: How much longer does Jonathan Boutin stay in the ECHL while Eklund and Coleman continue to give up 4+ goals a night? Ramsay to Undergo Surgery

TSN.ca reports Lightning Associate Coach Craig Ramsay will undergo surgery for prostate cancer. In his absence, Springfield assistant coach Darren Rumble will assume Ramsay's duties in handling the defense pairings for the Lightning. Bolt Prospects wishes Coach Ramsay speedy recovery.

Dingman Clears Waivers

With his agent no more able to engineer a trade than Jay Feaster was, LW Chris Dingman has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Springfield of the AHL. Dingman's reassignment may necessitate the demotion of a forward like Justin Kelly or Dennis Packard back to Johnstown of the ECHL.

Game Night 12/30: Monarchs at Falcons

Like quicksand... MAN-4 SPR-0 Gerald Coleman stopped just 22 of 26 shots faced in the loss. Hard to place blame on the goaltenders though when the Falcons have been shut out in two straight contests. John Adams was -2 in his debut. Welcome to the AHL young man. Game sheet from TheAHL.com.

Falcons Sign Adams to PTO, Reassign Henrich to Johnstown

The Springfield Falcons announced the signing today of defenseman John Adams to a professional tryout contract. Adams, who turned 23 on December 21st, is a former 3rd round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres who went unsigned out of Hockey East's Boston College before joining the Florida Everblades of the ECHL in this, his rookie, season. A 6'2" 195 pound stay-at-home blueliner, Adams' best college season came as a junior when he posted 3 goals and 10 points in 42 games for the Eagles. With the Everblades, Adams had 1 goals and 7 points in 22 games before signing his PTO contract today. Adams will assume the spot vacated by Anders Eriksson who left Springfield for Magnitogorsk of the Russian Superleague. To make roster room, the Falcons reassigned LW/C Adam Henrich to Johnstown of the ECHL.

Reid Reassigned to Springfield

According to Erik Erlendsson of the Trib, RW Darren Reid has been reassigned to Springfield of the AHL. Also, veteran Chris Dingman has been placed on waivers and will be reassigned to Springfield on Friday if there are no takers. Also, defenseman Andy Rogers is in town from Prince George of the WHL to have his ailing ankle examined by team doctors. Rogers has been hobbled all season, which partly explains the lack of offensive development in his game after a Traverse City tournament where he led all Lightning prospects in scoring.

Game Night 12/28: Falcons at Sound Tigers

Geez... SPR-0 BRI-4 The way things have been going lately, Brian Eklund allowing 4 goals on 38 shots is practically a command performance. The Falcons will seek to snap their long losing streak Friday against Manchester. Game sheet from TheAHL.com.
