Henrich and Hrdel Reassigned to Johnstown

A Springfield Falcons press release was issued stating Adam Henrich and Zbynek Hrdel have been reassigned to ECHL Johnstown. Henrich was in the Falcons lineup for their season opening, 3-2 win, over the Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday, October 7, but didn’t register a point. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound native of Thornhill, Ontario split the 2005-06 season between Springfield and Johnstown recording 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points in 63 games shared between the Falcons and Chiefs. Hrdel also was in the Falcons’ opening night lineup, but was a healthy scratch for both games against the Norfolk Admirals this past weekend. Hrdel also shared time in both Springfield and Johnstown last season collecting 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 61 total games split between the Falcons and Chiefs.

Ouch. SPR-1 NOR-8 Sean Burke allowed 5 goals on 14 shots for the loss before being lifted for Karri Ramo who allowed 3 on 17. Jared Aulin scored the lone Falcons goal. Marek Kvapil was a scratch for Springfield. It should also be noted Ramo got multiple penalties for leaving the crease and initiating a fight with Admirals goaltender Sebastien Caron in a bloody and fight marred third period. It was already a likelihood that some of the lower line/healthy scratches like Deveaux, Henrich or Hrdel might be on their way down for Johnstown's opener, but given the strong play of Lascek and Smolenak in the Chiefs' preseason games this weekend, now might be the time for Springfield to entertain more wholesale changes.

Blatny got his work visa and will be in the lineup for both Falcons games vs. Norfolk tonight and tommorow. Burke will start one game, Ramo will start one game. Boutin is still nursing an injury. Darren Reid will also be back in the lineup after an early send down due to a groin injury. The Falcons had good practices this week and left for Virginia on Thursday.
