ECHL Game Night 12/14: Chiefs at Cyclones

Morgan Cey stopped 43 of 45 shots he faced in regulation and overtime to steal a point tonight for a Johnstown team which was outshot 45-19 in total. Eric Przepiorka and PJ Atherton had the Chiefs goals with individual helpers going to Maxime Boisclair, Jean Desrochers and Doug Andress. Unfortunately, the Chiefs went just 1 for 5 in the penalty shot with the lone goal being scored by Andre Deveaux and they ended up losing the shootout 2 to 1.

Rowe Up, Desrochers Down

The Springfield Falcons have announced that they have signed left wing Randy Rowe to a PTO contract and recalled him from Johnstown of the ECHL. In addition, center Jean Desrochers has been released from his PTO and returned to the Chiefs from Springfield.

Rowe currently leads the Chiefs in scoring with 10 goals and 29 points in 21 games, good for 7th in scoring in the ECHL. Desrochers played 16 games in Springfield, posting 2 goals and 3 points with a -5 rating and 6 penalty minutes.

Coleman's seen more shots in the last week and a half than the Lightning's goaltenders see in a month.

ECHL Game Night 12/9: Royals at Chiefs

Johnstown gets a point at least.

Morgan Cey allowed 3 goals on 25 shots faced in the game for the OT loss. Randy Rowe led the way for the Chiefs with an assist on the opening goal and the key tying goal to send the contest to overtime with 59 seconds left in the third period. Adam Henrich had the other Johnstown goal with assists going to Doug Andress, Maxime Boisclair and Andrew Martens. Rowe and Henrich were named second and third stars of the game. The Chiefs outshot Reading 29-28.

You have got to be kidding. The Chiefs were outshot 40-15.

Gerald Coleman probably deserves a medal for stopping 37 of 40 shots faced in the game. Andrew Martens scored the lone Chiefs goal off assists from Maxime Boisclair and Adam Henrich. 40-15? Mercy. Whatever the team meal was, never have it again.

Coleman Recalled to Springfield

The Springfield Falcons have announced the recall of goaltender Gerald Coleman from Springfield for this afternoon's game against the Lowell Devils. Coleman started the game for Springfield (in progress) allowing Jonathan Boutin the night off after starting in Friday and Saturday night's victories. Rookie Karri Ramo is expected to be returned to Springfield early in the week.

Shootout madness in the minors.

Morgan Cey stopped 30 of 32 shots faced in regulation and overtime before clamping down on all five Reading shooters in the shootout for the win. Mazime Boisclair continued his torrid scoring pace with 2 assists in the game and now has 10 goals and 25 points in 19 games which is tops among all ECHL rookies. Grant Jacobsen and Bryan Nathe had the Chiefs goals with individual assists belonging to Randy Rowe and Doug Andress. Gus Katsuras again showed his shootout magic potting the one and only penalty shot chance the Chiefs needed to take the second point in the game. Katsuras, Cey and Boisclair were named the three stars of the game.

Rookie Maxime Boisclair, who has been scorching hot over the past month, led the way offensively with 1 goal and 1 assist. Radek Smolenak and Randy Rowe scored the other Chiefs markers while freshly signed Eric Przepiorka, Doug Andress and PJ Atherton chipped in individual helpers. Coleman and Boisclair were named first and third stars of the game, respectively.

Chiefs Ponder Tryout for Forward

According to the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, forward Eric Przepiorka has been attending Chiefs practices and the team is pondering whether to sign him to a contract. The 5'9" 181 lb left winger was a top scorer for Dartmouth in the ECACHL for four years amassing 39 goals and 102 points in 132 games before making his pro debut last year in an ATO with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. Przepiorka started this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL and in 20 career games in the league he has 1 goal, 3 points and 10 penalty minutes.

Waugh to Johnstown, O'Brien Close to Return

The Springfield Falcons have announced they have sent defenseman Geoff Waugh down to Johnstown of the ECHL. The move likely signals the return of defenseman Doug O'Brien who has missed the past seven games for the Falcons due to head and facial injuries caused by an illegal hit from Manchester's Peter Kanko.
