AHL Game Night 2/16: Sharks at Admirals

Maybe the game that gets Marc Denis back to the NHL?

WOR-2
NOR-4

Marc Denis stopped a preposterous 48 of 50 shots faced for the victory.

First Period
NOR Milley, (15) (Jones, Schneider), 7:25
NOR Rosehill, (2) (Mihalik, Milley), 12:22
WOR Setoguchi, (5) (Kaspar, Raduns), 16:49 (PP)

Third Period
NOR Wanvig, (17) (Milley, Jones), 19:39 (EN)

Denis was named first star of the game while Norm Milley earned third star of the game honors. There are rumors the Lightning may put Denis through re-entry waivers in the next week or two in the hope another team will take him. And effort like tonight coupled with a great relief appearance last night will go a long way toward making that happen.

Blair Jones now has two multi-point games in a row after a long drought while Radek Smolenak broke his short scoring slump with a helper on the game winning goal.

Don't look now but Vladimir Mihalik, favorite target of the Norfolk fan base, improved his +/- to even on the season with a +3 night and had an assist.

AHL Game Night 2/15: Sharks at Admirals

Jonathan Boutin is working on his cult hero status.

WOR-2

Boutin stopped 20 of 21 shots before being thrown out of the game early in the third for participating in a massive brawl ending with the young netminder squaring off against Sharks prospect goaltender Tomas Greiss. Boutin got the win with Marc Denis stopping 19 of 20 shots the rest of the way.

First Period
WOR Walsh, (2) (Packard, Iggulden), 4:29
NOR Scalzo, (5) (Milley, Jones), 13:19

NOR Milley, (14) (Jones, Keller), 16:28

Third Period
WOR Raduns, (11) (Fox, Mink), 15:40 (PP)

Boutin was named first star of the game while Mario Scalzo was named the game's third star. Boutin is now 4-0-1 in his last 5 decisions. Let the goaltending controversy continue! Tonight's win was his 10th of the season, a new career high.

Blair Jones posted his first multi-point game since November.

AHL Game Night 1/23: Admirals at Bears

Break up the Admirals.

HER-2 (SO)

Marc Denis allowed 2 goals on 27 shots in regulation and overtime before stopping 4 of 4 shooters in the penalty shot session for the win.

Second Period
HER Boumedienne, (2) (Beagle, Lepisto), 10:50

Third Period
HER Fehr, (1) (Boumedienne, Lepisto), 9:05 (PP)

Ordinarily, a shootout win wouldn't be such a big deal, but considering Hershey has tortured Norfolk most of this season in a way reminiscent of how Providence used to torment Springfield, a win is sweet indeed.

AHL all-star Justin Keller was named first star with an assist and the sealing goal in the shootout. Marc Denis received third star of the game honors.

Don't look now, but Radek Smolenak has 1 goal and 4 points in his last 3 games.

The Admirals outshot Hershey 39-27 in the game. Now if they can just get Blair Jones back on track.

Jones and Leach Sent Back Down to Norfolk

TheAHL.com is reporting the Lightning have returned center Blair Jones and defenseman Jay Leach to Norfolk of the AHL.

I'd love a break out of how much money Blair Jones made on a per second of ice time basis in the last week. Ditto Leach. De facto Christmas bonus.
