Lascek, Stanislav

Lascek Update

The Lightning has confirmed Stanislav Lascek did indeed suffer an injury during Norfolk's training camp. Lightning General Manager Jay Feaster said the injury was not sustained on the ice and no specifics were offered on the injury's whereabouts or cause.

Lascek struggled in Traverse City in early September and also failed to make a strong impression in his brief time in Norfolk camp before this latest injury. As a result, Feaster stated Lascek will be assigned to ECHL Mississippi when he is cleared to play.

A former QMJHL scoring star, Lascek split his rookie pro season last year between ECHL Johnstown (25 GP, 12-15-27) and AHL Springfield (29 GP, 2-2-4). He had 135 points in 64 games for Chicoutimi in his final year of junior.

Lascek has two years remaining on his entry level contract, including this season.

ECHL Game Day 3/18: Titans at Chiefs

By all appearances, Johnstown is done.

TRE-5
JHN-2

Morgan Cey allowed 5 goals on 26 shots in the loss. Gus Katsuras and newcomer Rob Lehtinen had the Chiefs goals with individual assists belonging to Zbynek Hrdel, Maxime Boisclair, Jean Desrochers and Dimitri Tarabrin.

Johnstown now finds themselves 8 points behind 5th place Reading for the final playoff spot in the ECHL North Division and while the Chiefs still hold games in hand that could get them back in the hunt, the sad truth is that with Randy Rowe injured and Stanislav Lascek, Radek Smolenak and PJ Atherton up in Springfield, this Johnstown team is running on fumes and looks like it is going to limp to the finish line of the season. Obviously for the Lightning it is going to be a long offseason as they ponder why a season that started with so much promise for their minor league system went so wrong.

Lascek, Smolenak Switch Places

According to today's Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs and AHL’s Springfield Falcons rotated players, sending Stanislav Lascek to Johnstown and Radek Smolenak to Springfield.

Smolenak played in 30 games for the Chiefs. He had a team-high 12 goals and ranked fourth with 22 points. In two earlier games with Springfield, the 6-foot-3 native of Prague, Czech Republic, didn’t score a point.

Lascek appeared in 26 games with the Falcons, netting two goals and four points. The native of Martin, Slovakia, began the season in Johnstown and was the team’s leading scorer when he was recalled in November. He had five goals and 15 points in 10 ECHL games.

Note: The newspaper also reports Falcons property Maxime Boisclair participated in the ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho, on Wednesday and had two assists in the American Conference’s 6-3 win over the National Conference at Qwest Arena.
