Wednesday's Superleague Scores

Despite facing scrutiny from the IIHF for a knee to knee hit which led to his ejection from the Karjala Cup, Evgeny Artyukhin was in the lineup today in Yaroslavl's 5-3 win over Khaborovsk. Artyukhin was scoreless in the match.

Vasily Koshechkin fell to 8-5-3 as he was chased today in Togliatti's 6-4 loss to Omsk.

Albert Vishnyakov did not play in Dynamo's 3-2 loss to CSKA.

Denis Kazionov was scoreless in Tver's 5-3 win over Chekhov.

Alexei Glukhov scored his first goal of the season as Cherepovets beat Novosibirsk 5-3.

Russia Wins Karjala Cup

Vasily Koshechkin stopped 25 of 27 shots faced in regulation before stopping 2 of 3 penalty shots to lift Russia to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Czech Republic to win the Karjala Cup. Koshechkin finishes the tournament with a record of 2-0-0 with a 1.92 GAA and .918 save percentage.

Karjala Cup Day Two

Vasily Koshechkin got the day off as Alexander Eremenko was between the pipes today in Russia's 5-4 win over Sweden to move to 2-0-0 in the Karjala Cup tournament. Evgeny Artyukhin was held out of the match with a suspension stemming from the charging major he took in the opening match against Finland.

Karjala Cup Day One

Vasily Koshechkin stopped 16 of 18 shots faced today as Russia knocked off home team Finland 3-2 in their opener in the Karjala Cup. RW Evgeny Artyukhin was thrown out of the game six and a half minutes into the first period after taking a charging major.

Koshechkin and Artyukhin Make Russian Karjala Cup Team

Goaltender Vasily Koshechkin and right wing Evgeny Artyukhin have been named to Team Russia for the upcoming Karjala Cup tournament. The Karjala Cup is the Finnish leg of the Euro Tour series of tournaments which feature national teams comprised of the best club players in Europe. Russia gets underway on Thursday against home club Finland.
