American Conference - Division Quarterfinals

Game 4: (1) Texas Wildcatters 5 @ (8) Mississippi Sea Wolves 3
Texas wins Best of 5 series 3-1

G Ryan Munce: 58:45 mins (L), 39 shots, 34 Saves, 5 GA
F Marek Kvapil: 1-1-2, -2, 0 PIMs, 6 SOG, *THIRD STAR*
F Zbynek Hrdel: DNP

The Texas Wildcatters defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves Sunday night by a score of 5-3, ending the Wolves' bid to continue post-season play. Marek Kvapil scored a power play marker in the first period and assisted on Michael Couch's second period goal. The Wolves would knot the game at 3-3 early in the third period before Ryan Munce would give up two Wildcatter goals down the stretch. Munce stopped 34 shots, but surrended 5 goals to the top-seed Texas. Kvapil finished the playoffs 2-3-5 in 3gp including 2 power-play goals.

Game 3: (1) Texas Wildcatters 3 @ (8) Mississippi Sea Wolves 4 (OT)
Texas leads Best of 5 series 2-1

G Ryan Munce: 64:06 mins (W), 38 shots, 35 Saves, 3 GA
F Marek Kvapil: 1-1-2, +1, 2 PIMs (slashing), 4 SOG
F Zbynek Hrdel: DNP

Ryan Munce bounced back in front of a home crowd of 2,172 Saturday night stopping 35 shots as the Mississippi Sea Wolves pulled off a sudden death OT winner in Game 3 against top-seed Texas. Marek Kvapil scored a 2nd period power play marker to put the Wolves up 3-2, and then assisted on Mike Hartwick's OT stunner forcing Game 4 tonight at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

The Wildcatters lead the series 2-1, but can still end the Wolves' season with a Game 4 victory tonight in Biloxi, MS.

F Marek Kvapil: 0-1-1, even, 0 PIMs, 1 SOG

Ryan Munce allowed a very pedestrian 5 goals on 33 shots and the Sea Wolves dropped Game 2 of their playoff series against Texas by a score of 5-2 Thursday night. Marek Kvapil returned to the Wolves lineup, assisting on Mississippi's first goal, a third-period power play marker. The Sea Wolves return home to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum needing to win both Saturday and Sunday to force a final Game 5 back in Texas on Tuesday.

The Wildcatters now lead the series 2-0 with Game 3 of the series Saturday night in Biloxi, MS.

F Marek Kvapil: DNP

Ryan Munce stopped 51 shots against the league-best Texas Wildcatters in their first game of the ECHL playoffs Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough as Texas took a 1-0 series lead by winning 4-1 in front of a sparse home crowd of 688. The Wildcatters threw a jaw-dropping 55 shots on goal en route to the victory.

Game 2 of the series is tonight in Beaumont, TX.

ECHL Update for the Mississippi Sea Wolves from 2/28 through 3/8:

  • Wolves go 2-2, with two wins at home against Charlotte and 2 losses on the road in Florida.
  • Munce gets a shutout, 1st Star and 2nd Star honors, and gets pulled in his 4th consecutive start.
  • Stan Lascek goes nuts in back-to-back games against Charlotte: 1st night gets instigator, fightning, and game misconduct; 2nd night lights the lamp twice and adds an assist.
  • Zbynek Hrdel buries a goal in first game back in Mississippi after being reassigned from Norfolk.
