Bartanus, Marek

CHL Game Night: 2/16 (Updated)

Mississauga 5 @ Brampton 0
Chris Lawrence had an assist in the IceDogs win and also finished plus-2. A relatively quiet night for Lawrence considering his recent hot streak.

Erie 2 @ Owen Sound 7
Do you criticize Kevin Beech for letting in 7 goals, or praise him for making 72 saves? Judging from the fact he was named the game's third star as the visiting goalie, it's the latter. It also turns out Beech was the "lucky" goalie to be in net when Marek Bartanus finally scored. Bartanus had a goal and was plus-2. Bartanus had gone 24 games without scoring a goal. It was his fifth of the year.

Vancouver 1 @ Prince George 3
Vladimir Mihalik was scoreless and plus-2 with 4 PIM as Prince George beat Vancouver 3-1 Friday. Mihalik had tripping and holding calls against him.

Kelowna 5 @ Everett 6 (Shootout)
Dane Crowley was plus-1 and scoreless for the Silvertips in their 6-5 home shootout win over Kelowna.

CHL Game Night: 2/14

Chris Lawrence scored the first two goals of the game as the Mississauga IceDogs clinched a playoff birth with a 4-1 win over fellow Lightning prospect Marek Bartanus and the Owen Sound Attack. Lawrence was also plus-1 and was named the game's third star. Lawrence is now on the cusp of 40 goals for the year, sitting at 39. He is alone in fourth in the league for goals scored, behind John Tavares of Oshawa (55), Patrick Kane of London (51) and Tyler Donati of Belleville (50). Bartanus did not register a point in the game and was minus-1 with a slashing minor. Bartanus has not scored a goal in 24 games.

CHL Game Night: 2/10 (Updated 2/11)

Chris Lawrence had an off night, but Mississauga was able to get a road win in Sudbury, 3-2 over the Wolves. Lawrence went scoreless, breaking his 9 game point streak. He was also minus-1. Lawrence registered 11 goals and 8 assists during his 9 game point streak. He was plus-11 during that time span, also.

Marek Bartanus' modest 2 game point streak ended tonight at home when he did not register a point in the Attack's 3-2 loss to Kitchener. Bartanus had an even rating for the game.

The end of the season can't come soon enough for last-place Erie. They are consistently giving up 45 or more shots and lately have been doing well to allow fewer than 5 goals a game. Kevin Beech was given the night off tonight, getting a bench seat for Erie's 7-2 home loss to Sault Ste. Marie.

In the WHL, a night after beating the Winter Hawks 9-0, Prince George defeated Portland 6-2. Vladimir Mihalik scored his sixth goal of the year - a second period marker that turned out to be the game winner. He was also plus-2.

Everett suffered a rare home loss, falling to Seattle 6-2. Dane Crowley was scoreless and minus-2.

CHL Game Night 2/8: Bartanus Breaks Two Streaks

Two streaks are over; one remains.

After 14 games, Marek Bartanus finally registered a point. Granted, it was "just" an assist, but considering how much Bartanus has struggled to hit the scoresheet lately, it's to be cheered.

Well, maybe not loudly.

The assist came with under 30 seconds left in a game that was already out of reach for Windsor. Owen Sound led 7-4 before Bartanus got a second assist on the Attack's eighth marker.

While that was cutting it close, he did finish a plus-3, breaking his 26 game streak without finishing a game on the plus side of his plus/minus rating. The last time he finished a game with a plus was November 3 when he was plus-3 and had 4 assists in a game against Oshawa.

Bartanus' streak of games without a goal is now at 21, however. He last scored just before the American Thanksgiving, 11-22-06, also in a game against Oshawa.

Bartanus has 4 goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 42 games this year. He had 19 points (7 goals) in 49 games last season.

CHL Game Night: 2/4

Marek Bartanus was scoreless as Owen Sound lost their fifth in a row, 2-1 in Ottawa. Bartanus was on the ice for both Ottawa goals, finishing minus-2.
