Ads Sign Winger to PTO

Norfolk Admirals General Manager Claude Loiselle announced today that Norfolk has signed left wing Mark Rooneem to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).

Rooneem, a 6-foot-2, 191-pound native of Hinton, Alberta, was leading the Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL) in scoring with five points (3+2) after seven games. The left wing participated in Norfolk's training camp earlier this fall. Rooneem split last season between the Texas Wildcatters (ECHL) and Houston Aeros (AHL).

Boyle Out/Smaby Back Up

Damian Crisdotero is reporting on his blog Dan Boyle has been put on IR indefinitely pending examinations by specialists looking into damage on his recently repaired wrist tendons. The Lightning have recalled defenseman Matt Smaby from Norfolk of the AHL in response.

Craig to Norfolk for 2

The Tampa Bay Lightning have activated center Ryan Craig off the Injured Reserve list and have assigned him to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League for conditioning, it was announced by Executive Vice President & General Manager Jay Feaster.

Craig is scheduled to play Wednesday and Friday for the Admirals before returning to the Lightning on Saturday in Washington. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound native of Abbotsford, British Columbia suffered a herniated disk in his back during the Lightning’s first preseason game on September 19 vs. Dallas and was placed on Injured Reserve.

Selected in the eighth round, 255th overall, at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Craig has appeared in 120 games with the Lightning during the past two seasons, recording 29 goals, 55 points and 61 penalty minutes.
