Here's a sports announcerism: if you don't score you can't win.
Ryan Munce stopped 28 of 31 shots faced as the Admirals once again squandered a quality start by one of their netminders.

The annual Karjala Cup, a leg of the yearly Euro Tour of the best club players from the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, and Sweden, is slated to begin on Thursday as he European leagues are all winding down toward the Karjala Cup break. Two Lightning properties are currently slated to play in the tournament: Russian winger Anton But and Swedish defenseman Andreas Holmqvist.
The break is also a period of significant transfer activity and with several Lightning prospects in contractual limbo, the break may offer some interesting outcomes for players like Evgeny Artyukhin, Denis Kazionov, and Vasily Koshechkin. We shall see.
Don't know if this is THE roster move or just another chance to get him some playing time, but Matt Smaby has been sent back down to Norfolk of the AHL.
Johan Holmqvist allowed 5 goals on 21 shots for the loss.
In fairness, the effort level has been there both in this game and the game against the Islanders. The Lightning outshot the Thrashers 34-22 and at times made Atlanta look like a junior team defensively. They could've (and probably should've) scored 8-9 goals tonight but did not finish their chances. Atlanta then capitalized on a rope-a-dope strategy that completely relied on counterattacking on the rush after surviving wave after wave of Lightning scoring chances generated both on the rush and on the forecheck.
The backchecking by the forwards tonight was suspect and some defensive details weren't handled. That needs to be minded in practice. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, that's the good news.
