ECHL Game Night 11/24: Chiefs at Royals

I'm amazed at how well Johnatown has played with Spina and Lascek getting called up.

Gerald Coleman stopped 38 of 43 for the victory as the Chiefs were outshot 43-27. Rookie Maxime Boisclair led the way for Johnstown with a hat trick and a pair of assists. Veteran Randy Rowe chipped in 4 assists. Andre Deveaux had 1 goal and 2 assists. Radek Smolenak and PJ Atherton each had 1 goal and 1 assist as well. Doug Andress also had a goal for the Chiefs. Zbynek Hrdel and rookie Gus Katsuras had individual assists in the game. Boisclair, Rowe and Deveaux were named the game's three stars.

CHL-Russia Challenge: Russia vs. OHL Game One

In the first game between the OHL and a select touring team of Russian juniors in the CHL-Russia Challenge, Chris Lawrence had an assist tonight as the OHL won 5-0. Denis Kazionov is a member of Russia's entrant in the tour.

Kazionov had 2 assists on Tuesday night in Russia's 4-3 loss to a team of QMJHL stars. Kazionov also had an assist on Monday on the opening night of the tour as Russia fell 6-2 to the QMJHL.

Thursday's Superleague Scores

Dimitri Kazionov snapped a long scoreless streak tallying a goal and adding an assist in Kazan's 5-2 win over Chekhov. Kazionov still leads all Lightning Russian prospects in scoring with 7 goals and 14 points in 26 games.

Evgeny Artyukhin and Yaroslavl were shutout by Ufa 1-0. Artyukhin's 137 penalty minutes in 24 games is tops in the Superleague.

It's good to know that no matter how poorly the Lightning are playing, they've always got those toothless old pussy cats on the schedule to act as slump busters.

Johan Holmqvist stopped 31 of 35 shots for the win. Martin St. Louis led the way with 3 assists in the game while Brad Richards had 2 goals, one of the empty net variety. Ryan Craig, Eric Perrin and Dan Boyle each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Individual assists went to Nolan Pratt, Filip Kuba, Doug Janik, Blair Jones and Nikita Alexeev. Jones' assist was his first NHL point.

AHL Game Night 11/22: Pirates at Falcons

All hail Karri Ramo.

Karri Ramo won his third straight shootout decision to advance his record to 7-3-0 on the year stopping 30 of 32 shots faced in regulation and overtime before stopping 4 of 5 penalty shots in the shootout. Falcons goals were scored unassisted by David Spina, shorthanded, and Dan Cavanaugh. Adam Henrich and Daniel Corso scored the winning markers in the shootout as Henrich was given the privilige/responsibility by Coach Stirling to shoot first for the Falcons. Spina and Cavanaugh were the first and third stars of the game respectively.

With the win, Springfield pulls into Thanksgiving at 9-9-0, good for 18 points and 6th in the 7th team Atlantic Division just 1 point behind Bridgeport and Worcester for 8th in the Eastern Conference.
