NHL Game Night 11/17: Islanders at Lightning

Johan Holmqvist stopped 29 of 31 shots faced in regulation/overtime before stopping 7 of 7 penalty shots in the shootout to outduel Rick Dipietro. Holmqvist is a perfect 5-0-0 in his last 5 starts and is now 5-2-0 on the season. Nikita Alexeev and Brad Richards had the Lightning's goals in regulation, but it took Dimitry Afanasenkov's shootout goal to secure the second point. Vincent Lecavalier had 2 assists and Filip Kuba chipped in an individual helper. Richards and Lecavalier were first and third stars of the game respectively. Holmer was robbed.

Nick Tarnasky received just 2 shifts in the game for 54 seconds of ice time with 1 hit with Tim Taylor out due to injury. The Lightning continue to follow the policy that they just won't give Tarnasky ice time unless it is the third period of a blowout.

ECHL Game Night 11/17: Nailers at Chiefs

Gerald Coleman hitting his stride? Adam Henrich back from the abyss?

Coleman stopped 29 of 31 shots faced for the win. Since returning from an injury suffered in October, Coleman is 3-0-1 with a 2.75 GAA and .920 save percentage. Veteran Randy Rowe and Adam Henrich led the offense with 1 goal and 1 assist each. In his last three games Henrich has 3 goals and 6 points with 9 penalty minutes and a +4 rating. The other Chiefs goals were scored by Ryan Gibbons and Zbynek Hrdel. Individual assists belonged to Ian MacLean, Maxime Boisclair, Andre Deveaux and Radek Smolenak. MacLean was reacquired off of waivers after experiencing visa issues when he was originally taken off waivers earlier this month by Wheeling. Rowe, Henrich and Coleman were the three stars of the game.

Evgeny Artyukhin assisted on 2 of former Lightning prospect Fedor Fedorov's 3 goals as Yaroslavl dismantled Salavat Yulayev 6-2. Artyukhin now has 1 goal and 6 points in 22 games this year to go along with 121 penalty minutes.

Vasily Koshechkin got the day off in Togliatti's 4-3 loss to Khimik.

Albert Vishnyakov was scoreless in Dynamo's 2-1 overtime loss to Chekhov.

Denis Kazionov did not play in Tver's 3-1 loss to CSKA.

Alexei Glukhov was scoreless in Cherepovets' 3-2 win over Novokuznetsk.

Anton But had an assist in SKA's 2-2 tie with Novosibirsk.

Helenius Done for the Season

According to the Tampa Tribune, 2006 1st round pick Riku Helenius is done for the year after undergoing shoulder surgery. Also, contrary to previous speculation, Andy Rogers has been diagnosed with a hip injury drawing the ire of Lightning management.
