Last night in the final game of the CHL-Russia Challenge, Team WHL crushed the Russian selects 8-1 to complete the six game sweep for the CHL. Denis Kazionov was scoreless and -2 with 6 penalty minutes in the game. Kazionov finished the tour tied for third on the Russian team in scoring with 2 goals and 4 points, officially, with 10 penalty minutes which is a solid outing considering the low level of the teams Russia usually sends to this event and the high level of talent the CHL can conversely send into these games. Kazionov will now return to his club team Tver in the Russian Superleague.
Gerald Coleman was strong in the shootout.
Gerald Coleman stopped 35 of 38 shots faced in regulation and overtime before stopping all 5 Titans shooters in the shootout session to secure the win. Rookie Maxime Boisclair, who has been scorching hot over the past month, led the way offensively with 1 goal and 1 assist. Radek Smolenak and Randy Rowe scored the other Chiefs markers while freshly signed Eric Przepiorka, Doug Andress and PJ Atherton chipped in individual helpers. Coleman and Boisclair were named first and third stars of the game, respectively.

In just his second start this season, Jonathan Boutin stopped 33 of 35 shots faced to secure his first win of the year and improve to 1-2-0. The Falcons offense was paced by veteran Norm Milley who had 1 goal and 1 assist including the overtime winner with 2:26 left in the extra session. Veteran defenseman Andy Delmore added 2 assists while rookie Justin Keller and veteran Eric Healey supplied the birds' other goals. Individual assists went to Dan Cavanaugh and Daniel Corso. Milley and Healey were named the first and third stars of the game, respectively.
The victory moves the Falcons to 11-10-0 this year which, despite placing the Falcons in sixth in the Atlantic Division, moves them just six points behind division leading Portland with a game in hand on the Pirates. In other words, the Falcons have played themselves right back into the thick of any potential playoff race.

Anton But had an assist on the game winning third period goal as SKA topped Nizhnekamsk 2-1.
620 WDAE is reporting that the Lightning have recalled goaltender Karri Ramo from Springfield of the AHL. Ramo, a 20 year old 6th round pick from the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, is 8-3-0 this season with a 2.89 GAA and .911 save percentage with the Falcons. The netminder has won Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Week honors for the past two weeks going undefeated in four starts over that span.
