Egener Sent Down

The Springfield Falcons have reassigned 2003 2nd round pick Mike Egener to Johnstown of the ECHL and recalled Jay Rosehill. The move comes in the same week that Adam Henrich saw a similar stint in Johnstown as a consequence of ineffective play.

Sypek: Bombardir to Undergo Knee Surgery

Fran Sypek reports that defenseman Brad Bombardir is scheduled to undergo knee surgery which may put his season in jeopardy. The news comes as the Falcons find themselves in the midst of a brief tailspin that has seen them give up 15 goals in their last two contests.

Norrena Drops Third Game of Season

After a red hot start Linkopings has hit a rough patch in late October. Today the team dropped a decision in which goaltender Fredrik Norrena stopped just 14 of 18 shots faced. Norrena was pulled with about two and a half minutes to go as Linkopings surrendered an empty net goal.

Game Night 10/28: Lock Monsters at Falcons

Oh no, we suck again.

LOW-7
SPR-3

Brian Eklund straffed with 46 shots on net and a penalty shot to boot. Unfortunately Todd Rohloff didn't return in this game, although at this stage I'm not sure how much of a difference he alone can make. The Falcons were outshot 46 to 29 in this game, which is far to reminiscent of many a performance last season. The struggles then were a consequence of inexperience. Now? It's probably no coincidence the level of play dropped off in Springfield from opening night when Paul Ranger left the team. And it's also no surprise it fell completely off the table without Artyukhin. Springfield lost, arguably, 2 of their 3 best skaters from opening night and it shows. I hope Jay Feaster makes some sort of decision regarding the checking liners soon for Springfield's sake.

Lone silver lining in the game: Marek Kvapil got his first two pro points. Game sheet from TheAHL.com.
