WDAE radio in Tampa is reporting Eric Perrin has made the Lightning's opening day roster. "The sonofabitch has made the team," said Lightning Head Coach Tortorella, using the term as affectionaly as it can be used to describe Perrin. In fact, Tortorella told the press that for tonight's game, Perrin, thought to be a candidate for no better than the third forward line, will be placed with Vincent Lecavalier and Vinny Prospal against Detroit. ALSO: In Erik Erlendssonâ€™s Blog on the Trib site, he says that Doug Janik has also earned a roster spot and Andy Delmore could be put through waivers. Erlendsson also speculates that first-year pro Matt Smaby may have passed Delmore on the depth chart.

According to the Falcons, the Lightning reassigned defenseman Mike Egener to Springfield of the American Hockey League today. The Lightningâ€™s camp roster now stands at 26. Egener, a 6-foot-4, 213-pound native of Lahr, Germany, played in one preseason game with the Lightning at Detroit on September 22. He logged 16:59 of ice time and landed three hits.

According to the [i]Johnstown Tribune-Democrat[/i], Johnstown Chiefs fan favorite Dmitri Tarabin has signed with the Bloomington (Ill.) Prairie Thunder of the UHL. Tarabin had career highs in goals (21) and points (50) in 62 games last year with the Chiefs. The Chiefs also announced the re-signing of defenseman Ben Wallace on Wednesday. The London, Ontario, native played in 58 regular-season games last season and had 10 assists. â€œBen is a very big addition to our team,â€ Chiefs coach Frank Anzalone said. â€œHe plays a very solid, stay-at-home game. Last year he learned the league. This year heâ€™ll hopefully be one of the best defensive defensemen in our division.â€

Bartanapalooza continues. Marek Bartanus had two assists as Owen Sound beat Sarnia 6-3. He was also plus-1. Bartanus, who was singled out by Jay Feaster for his good play in the Traverse City tournament, now has 1 goal and 4 assists in 3 games this season. He had 12 assists (19 points) in 49 games last season with Owen Sound. He had 2 goals and 4 assists in 10 playoff games. Bartanus was the only Lightning CHL prospect in action tonight.

[url=evgeny-artyukhin]Evgeny Artyukhin[/url] assisted on the game winning goal in Yaroslavl's 3-2 win over Magnitogorsk. The point is the first officially of Artyukhin's Superleague season ending a pointless spell of over six games. Goaltender [url=vasily-koshechkin]Vasily Koshechkin[/url] had his first shutout of the season to improve to 3-2-1 today defeating Khabarovsk 1-0. Koshechkin had 10 shutouts last season. Forward Dimitri Kazionov was scoreless in Kazan's 3-2 loss to Novosibirsk.
