AHL Game Night: 11-5-11 Admirals at Sound Tigers

Norfolk needs some Ritola...

NOR-2
BRI-3

Jaroslav Janus allowed 3 goals on 32 shots for the loss.

First Period
BRI Donovan, (2) (Ullstrom, Niederreiter), 10:29
NOR Smith, (6) (Picard, Labrie), 18:48

Second Period
BRI Frischmon, (1) (Ness), 14:52

Third Period
BRI Ullstrom, (6) (Donovan, Nilsson), 7:50 (PP)
NOR Ashton, (10) (Conacher, Angelidis), 17:09

That's a very talented team that Bridgeport has. You see a lot of high draft picks and a smattering of veterans like Tim Wallace on that roster. They outshot Norfolk slightly by a 32-29 margin, and you get the feeling this may be a team the Admirals see in the playoffs.

Now, after two straight losses, it appears this is a good time to get Mattias Ritola into the fold. He didn't play tonight, but I would hope he gets in the lineup tomorrow at Providence.

C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 1-0-1, +1, 2 PIM (holding)
Season Totals: 18 GP, 10-11-21, +9, 18 PIM

London scored three times in the first period, then held on for a 4-3 win against the league’s worst team. Namestnikov had what turned out to be the game winning goal when he scored his 10th of the season late in the second period to give the Knights a 4-1 lead. He now has at least a point in seven of his last eight games.

Florida Everblades 5 @ Greenville Road Warriors 2

LW Alex Hutchings, FLA: 0-3-3, +1, 2 SOG, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 11 GP, 4-5-9, +2, 8 PIM
RW Philip-Michael Devos, FLA: 0-0-0, +1, 1 SOG, 0 PIM

Season Totals: 6 GP, 2-4-0, 4.22 GAA, .840 sv%, 0 SO

Florida (4-6-0-1) won their second in as many nights after a suffering through a four game losing streak. Hurricanes prospect John Muse was solid in net again for the 'Blades, which means unless he’s called back up to Charlotte, Lightning prospect Pat Nagle will be watching more than he’s playing. Alex Hutchings (pictured) had a three point night to inch closer to a point-per-game pace for the season. He and Devos are tied with defenseman and former New Hampshire Wildcat Chris Murray for the team points lead with nine. Murray had two goals and an assist for First Star honors Saturday night.

European Game Day: 11-5-11

SM-liiga (Finland):
JYP 5 @ HIFK 1
Riku Helenius, JYP, DNP
Season totals: 10 GP, 6-4-0, 4 SO, 1.51 GAA, .933 sv%

Riku Helenius sat backup on the second half of the back-to-back as JYP defeated HIFK 5-1. Ex-Lightning forward Eric Perrin had a helper in the win. JYP's next match is a week from Tuesday against TPS as Europe heads into the Karjala Cup break.

Elitserien (Sweden):
AIK 0 @ Lulea 2
Johan Harju, Lulea, 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 3 SOG
Season totals: 20 GP, 7-3-10, +2, 8 PIM

Johan Harju was scoreless in Lulea's 2-0 shutout win over AIK. AIK goaltender Viktor Fasth, rumored as a Lightning target in the offseason, stopped 35/37 in the loss. Lulea is off until a week from Thursday for the Karjala Cup, when they'll play Timra.

As expected, Nikita Kucherov did not appear for CSKA Jr. today in their 4-1 loss to Mytischi Jr., as he is headed to North America to participate in the annual Subway Superseries.
