Game Night 3/27: Lightning at Hurricanes

Wasted a great effort by Grahame. TB-1 CAR-2 Grahame stopped 27 of 29 in the loss. Defenseman Pavel Kubina was injured on a Craig Adams hit leaving the Lightning with just four of their regular defensemen. Doug O'Brien played better in his third NHL game than in his previous callup, but is struggling still with the size/strength of the NHL, in my opinion. Paul Ranger played 26:13 of even hockey with 3 shots on goal, 1 hit and 3 blocked shots. As injuries have led to an increase in his ice time, Ranger has responded. Ryan Craig played 19:21 of even hockey with 1 shot and 1 hit. O'Brien played 12:24 of even hockey with 1 shot and 1 block. Evgeny Artyukhin was even in 7:38 with 2 shots and 2 hits. Linkopings/Frolunda Game Two

Linkopings pulled even in their semifinal series with Vastra Frolunda today winning 5-0. Fredrik Norrena threw a 29 save shutout while veteran Lightning property Shane Willis had a goal and an assist. The series is now tied 1-1.

HPK/Ilves Game Three

HPK is on the brink of moving on to the Finnish semifinals. Both Karri Ramo and Tuukka Rask rode the pine today as HPK defeated Ilves 4-2 with Miika Wiikman once again between the pipes. HPK leads the best of seven series 3-0.

Game Day 3/26: Chiefs at Nailers

Are the depleted Chiefs finally hitting the wall? JHN-2 WHE-5 Gabe Winer stopped 39 of 46 in the loss. Adam Henrich got his 18th goal of the season and added an assist. Andre Deveaux added a power play goal for the Chiefs. Game sheet from ECHL.com.

Game Day 3/26: Sound Tigers at Falcons

Oh dear, the bad Boutin showed up this weekend. BRI-5 SPR-2 Jonathan Boutin stopped just 16 of 21 shots faced squandering a 41-21 shot advantage by the Falcons. With Doug O'Brien being recalled to Tampa, Mike Egener returned to the lineup after missing two games due to suspension. He was even with 4 penalty minutes. Marek Kvapil scored his 17th goal of the season and Jason Jaspers his 24th, both on the power play. Assists came from Rohloff, Blatny and Milley among Lightning properties.
