WHL Stomps Russian Selects in Saskatoon

Alternate Captain Justin Keller and Team WHL made Team Russia's trip through Canada even more unpleasant Wednesday night, crushing the Russian select squad 9-2. Russia is now 0-5 in the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge and must face the powerful WHL squad again tonight in Regina, Saskatchewan. Despite piling up 9 goals against the Russians, including 8 in the first two periods, the WHL received no scoring from Keller. Game Night 11/30: Leafs at Lightning

Like pulling teeth... TOR-1 TB-2 John Grahame stopped 20 of 21 for the victory in a night checking game that often resembled a rugby scrum. Paul Ranger notched an assist on a good crisp breakout pass that Vincent Lecavalier quickly moved up to Marin St. Louis who broke in for a goal on Ed Belfour. Ranger played 16:43 tonight and was +1 although he did take two minor penalties. It seems to me he's struggled a bit in his own zone in the past week or so as forwards physically challenge him along the wall. Plays where he was effectively slipping checks last month he's getting caught by forecheckers now and they're testing him. Evgeny Artyukhin with a physical 7:34 of ice time in which he registered 3 hits. Game sheet from NHL.com.
